Finished This Terrible Sounds back in January and I have to agree that it is one of the best Civil War books I have read. The level of detail in unsurpassed. I have never read anything like it. It is an account of the huge battle of Chickamagua down to the regiment level. Because the battle was foug... |

I actually think Lee would excel. In many games I have played, the morale of the player matters. There are a few opponents whom I play that I almost always beat. This has made them feel timid and think a brigade on their flank is a corps. Conversely, Bob Hughes has gotten in my head. He is very meth... |

Kennon, I disagree that Meade could not lose. He could have made some poor choices, lost his nerve, been wounded, etc. IMHO, the Union Corps and Division commanders, and many brigade commanders, for the most part were solid (Peach Orchard aside) and the AotP had some of its best leadership days afte... |

3D 90% of the time. I prefer it for facing roads. But mostly, for a game at this scale, even with so so graphics, it adds flavor and the 2D does not add such a bonus to overide seeing the troops in line. For the WWII operational games, I use 2D exclusively but for this scale, I prefer to see the lit... |

Ah, I said Lee's Generals. I meant Lee's Lieutenants. Indeed, this war, as with most, was at heart a tragedy. |

back to the original discussion. I do not think Grant had "learned his lessons" yet at that point in 62. He matured and learned as a commander as time went on. In my opinion, he certainly could have made the sort of operational mistakes made by Pope, but he would not have shriveled and still may hav... |

Hank is right, the South could have won the war both early and late with stunning victories and high Union casualties. By its nature, these sorts of Civil Wars, where there are clear geographic demarcations, are as much "revolutionary" wars as they are classic civil wars. Since one side must occupt ... |

Kennon,
good work. When you add to this the Rebel supply problem (as detailed by Ross last year), the yanks corps/division organization gives them another advantage. |
