Chief of the Armies – Confederate States of America - Christmas Message

Well Officers and Gentlemen of the Confederacy another year is due to pass and the festive season is just about here – three nights until the big hairy gentleman wearing a stars and bars suit will visit. I have already sent him my note requesting more victories, more beer and some flat abs.

I have yet to compile all the statistics for 1862, but it has been a busy year with 1151 battles and manoeuvres ended in the year as follows:

AoG - 186
AoA - 290
AotM - 291
ANV - 384

All this activity has kept our cherished cause of states rights strong and us the cusp of final victory. It will be very nice to be able to put my dirty boots up on the White House dinning table, having some of Abe’s good sipping whiskey.

The VMI has been very busy this year bringing new young officers into the fold. It is great to see that southern young folk are keen to step up and defend the colours of the Confederacy and all it stands for.

So for all of you who live in the northern part of our great Confederacy stay safe and warm, look after your kin, eat well, drink as much as you like and make sure you are all fit and well for 1863 campaign season.

For those in the very very south of or great Confederacy the message the same, plus make sure the heat does not get to you, keep the BBQ fired up and don’t watch too much cricket.

For those north of the Mason Dixon Line have a good Christmas and make sure you are ok to put up some sort of resistance to our march on Washington in 1863.

Gentlemen of the Army of the Mississippi <salute>

A Merry Christmas to everyone! The large hairy gentleman was especially kind this year, leaving a Yankee pack horse for Nicodemus to gnaw on. Perhaps this will keep him occupied and we'll see no drunken brawls with surly Yankee officers.

Eat, drink and be merry during this period of festivities. Spend time with your honey and bounce the little ones on your knee while the opportunity presents itself. The new year and "Western Fireworks" approaches, where we must again teach the Army of the Tennessee a lesson or two.

With highest regards,

A little tardy, but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
