Congrats to everyone! A fine effort by you all to restore the AotM! 8)

From what are we restoring this Army from, sir? Your words imply that this Army was "down" then at some point. To my knowledge we have not been "down" since before Roger Hulinsky took over many years ago. Since then we have constantly had the highest mustering rate in the Confederacy and have participated in more battles than any other Army in the Club. In 2010 this Army set a Club record with 477 games played!

"Restoring" the AotM???

This Army has been, and will continue to be, the best Army in the Club! The recent work of Jim Garner and Tim Miller has been outstanding and they continue the proud tradition of those who have led us in the past.

There is nothing to "restore" in the AotM. We have never lost our spot atop the CSA. With the continued work of everyone in the Army we will keep that spot as long as the Club exists. And when any other CSA Army wants to challenge us we will be happy to oblige them. But right now I wouldnt give you a wooden nickel for the other three armies combined :!:

Sorry, had to say it. I know you didnt mean it the way it sounded exactly :D

....And I assume it came into my head, now I think about it, because they were restoring the Corps structure to the Army and they had put some work into it to get it done. :D

Gents I am slightly miffed by the fact that there was a party on the go and I was not invited

A shadowy shape slips in through an open window in the back of the Army of the Mississippi's Tavern... and slowly approaches the much beaten Yankee Colonel who is suspended upside down from one of the rafters in the back corner.

"Pssst... Sir... can you hear me?"

The Rebel Officers are all gathered around the bar... an argument is brewing... one Reb Officer says to another... "I say that General Hulinsky was the finest Cavalry Officer that ever stepped out of a saddle south of the Mason Dixon"... another is over heard to reply loudly... "Bladerdash, he was nothing more that a pompous rat fink and I'm glad that SOB disappeared"... glasses crash to the floor as a scuffle breaks out."

"Pssst... Colonel Olinsky... can you hear me?"

The suspended Yank seems to stir just the slightest... then a badly swollen eye opens ever so slightly... and blood stained lips part just a bit.

"General... General Ringbloom... is that you? What are you... ?"

The shadowy shape raises a finger to his lips and pulls a dagger from a sheath. Meanwhile in the background a loud Rebel voice screams out in pain... "Get that darn alligator off of me!!!" The rope is cut and the Colonel falls with a thud to the floor... but the sound is lost to the screams of some Reb yelling incessantly... "My hand, my hand... that darn gator ate my hand!"

"Colonel... I've got a horse out back. Can you walk?" The Colonel replies... "I... I... think so..."

The shadowy figure grabs a hold of the Colonel and helps him through the open window in the back of room. But as the shadowy figure slips through the window... a rebel voice is heard... "HEY.... Where is OLINSKY?" A mad rush to the back of Tavern ensues... and shots are fired... but General Ringbloom and Colonel Olinsky make good on their escape.

Better luck next time, Rebs! <salute>

After shooting the tail off of his own horse Olinsky and Drex are thrown to the ground by the maddened horse. Olinsky is kicked in the head by the animal while Drex's leg is busted in four places. Upon seeing the carnage of the scene the Confederates put the horse out of its misery and then take the two Yankees out behind the barn with a length of rope.

The next morning Gen. Garner receives a note from his Chief of Staff that there are two unsavory looking Yankees "hanging around" behind the barn.

THE END

LOL! A most excellent SHORT STORY! Though I must admit that I am into alternate endings... but I'll save that for the "The Winchester Arms" over near the Army of the Shenandoah HQ!

Lt General Miller,
Tim,

Perhaps you should put your hat back on, Sir?

It would be unfortunate if the bright gleam in the sunlight resulted in the spoiling of your breakfast!

Gentlemen,
since I have been away and only recently rejoined the battle, I can't seem to find my orders. Last I checked I was assigned to the III Marine Corps and had a Flotilla under my command. Could someone please direct me to the current Army organization so I can make sure I am following the Chain of Command. Salute!
