Gentlemen <salute>

I have designated this portion of the Natchez Trace Tavern as the Army of the Mississippi Parade Field. The Army will assemble as necessary to witness deserving officers being recognized by promotion or special recognition in the form of awards and certificates.

Highest regards,

Commanders! Call your units to attention!

Major General Donald Vandergriff, post!

"The States Rights Gist Medal of Service is awarded to brigade officers who display exemplary conduct and/or achievements on the fields of battle. Major General Donald Vandergriff (I/2/6) distinguished himself by achieving a total of 8 major victories during the month of October, 2013. This remarkable achievement reflects great credit upon General Vandergriff, the Army of the Mississippi, and the Confederate States Army."

Major General Vandergriff,
Don,

Eight? Eight Major victories in ONE month? Whew! That's quite a feat!

I heard Lt General Hebert saying something to the affect that you had over 500 turns represented in those 8 battles. That's like an average of over 60 turns per contest. Impressive. It's been awhile since I played that number of turns. I'd like to say... I've not played that many turns for awhile because I usually bring the enemy to a quick defeat... but even my inflated ego wouldn't let me go that far.

Keep up the fight, Sir! And congratulations on your Medal! Well deserved! <salute>

General Hulinsky <salute>

Suh, my compliments!

The total turns came out to 477, not quite 500 but still impressive.

Highest regards,

Commanders, call your units to attention!

Officers of the Army of the Mississippi, we are assembled here today to recognize superior achievement and dedication to our cause for the 3rd Quarter of 2013. I've done my best to retrieve previous awards from the archives, however there are gaps in the information.

The following officers are recognized as Outstanding Brigades based on their battle actions, endurance, and accomplishments over the course of their engagements:

Image

July: Lieutenant General Owen Evans (6/2/II), his 2nd award.
August: Major General Billy Ray Wagenseller (6/1/I), his 1st award.
September: Lieutenant Colonel Dagan Chambers (5/2/I), his 1st award.

The following officers are awarded the Gallantry Award for excellence on the field of battle, the first for each:

Image

July: Lieutenant General Owen Evans (6/2/II) with 112 turns in victory.
August: Lieutenant General Tom Phillips (./2/I) with 28 turns in victory.
September: Lieutenant General Joe Medeiros (././I) with 107 turns in victory.

The following officers are awarded the Purple Heart. While not recognition which might be desired, it reflects the determination of each officer to hold the line despite adversity:

July: Brigadier General Robert Hardee (5/1/II), his 3rd award.

Image

August: Brigadier General Bill Keys (4/3/II), his 2nd award.

September: Lieutenant General Tom Phillips (./2/I), his 1st award.

Finally, Outstanding Division for the 3rd Quarter of 2013 goes to 2nd Division, I Corps, commanded by Lieutenant General Tom Phillips.

Gentlemen, my congratulations to each of you! Commanders, you may dismiss your commands. Finger foods and drinks will be served in the officers mess immediately following the ceremony.

Thank you for the honor. Yes, I have time to play several scenarios at one time. I am posted in Afghanistan, and there is not a lot to do outside work other than sleep and work out, so I love my HPS games.

Major General Vandergriff,
Don,

You take care of yourself over there. I had some friends who were electrical contractors working over there. They couldn't wait to get home!

Congratulations to all the fine AotM Officers who were recognized for their efforts with the awarding of the Medals above!

I will make a note to myself to get these posted to the AotM Officer Dossier's so that they are permanently on display!

Keep up the fight! <salute>

Commanders, call your units to attention!

Officers of the Army of the Mississippi, today we form up to recognize those who have exhibited superior achievement and dedication during the month of October, 2013. Their service has been noteworthy during our continuing mission to convince those people theirs is a fruitless endeavor.

General Jim Garner (4/1/II) is presented the Purple Heart in recognition of his determination to combat our opponents despite adverse conditions. This is his first such award.

Major General Don Vandergriff (6/2/I) is presented the Gallantry Award in recognition of his prowess on the field of battle, with 477 victorious turns. In addition, he is awarded the Outstanding Brigade. This is his fifth award of each.

General Hebert <salute>

Thank you suh! Thank you for the honor of fighting the northern aggressors and driving them from our beloved South.

General Hulinsky has informed me that rank has its privileges. Now that I have been promoted to Captain, I will no longer have to clean the spittoons at the tavern. YEE HAW!!

Most respectfully,

Captain Rogers,
Mark,

Yes... it appears the cleaning of the spittoons is exclusively the duty of Fld Lt Russell Longmire now!

Now Suh... when you make the rank of Major... you'll no longer have your name in the regular rotation to burn excrement from the AotM Outhouses! Have you ever smelled Gator excrement? Phew!!! It's very nasty! I suppose from eating all those Union cavalry mounts! I keep telling General Hebert to get rid of that gator but he seems hell bent on keeping him around!

There's a lot of dirty jobs in this here "Man's Army" but someone has to do it!
