Several years ago (too long to remember around 1984 or so)...when I was re-enacting, there was a School of the Soldier there. IT was a grand sight to see so many men in gray, marching around, drilling and etc. We got to set up our tents on the Fort site. Some of us went walking around under the sea oats, grass and were able to find some of the steel fragments that the Yanks fired at the Fort.

That was the good old days...I am too old now to sleep out under the stars on the hard ground.

If you have never been there before and is in that area you need to check this site out...it is worth the trip.

Very interesting, but too old!? That is kind of discouraging to hear. I just turned 62 on the Battle of the Bulge this December past and I was recently toying with the idea of taking up the hobby! Of course I might have to have an MOS that keeps me in the rear with the gear.[;)]

Got any photos from those good old days? [:)]
