Opinions wanted: Which of Matrix's games is better: Forge of Freedom or AGEOD's American Civil War? One is said to be "operational" and I couldn't find a scale noted for the other but it sounded strategic. I am interested in a good grand strategic or strategic/operational hybrid but I hate buying another pig in a poke.

There are probably other posts on this and I will search for them but at the moment I am in a hurry...gotta find a birthday present for myself[:D]...was born on December 16, 1944...I SHOULD be searching for a good tactical Bulge game...anyone know of a new one? (I have the operational PZ Bulge 44 game...but I want sometning a little more intimate in scale for Bulge akin to the old Talonsoft BG Bulge game...i.e. something like the classic Avalon Hill boardgame.) But my first choice is a good, playable ACW strategic game. Years ago I had something called "No Greater Glory" by SSI...a nice idea but the game really didn't "work" or I should say wasn't very satisfying, but that is all there was.

Thanks.

I would recomend AGEOD's American Civil War its fun to play the smallest units are brigades so no micro menagment. The same go's for Economy quick simple and effective. Graphics is also good. I like the Command system in AGEOD's product. Recruiting units is also done nicely.
