How much night fatigue is suffered by each unit per turn if they march the maximum distance? Is it less if they don't use their maximum movement? Is it different from one HPS ACW game to another? Do units with 24 movement hexes suffer any more fatigue than a unit with 12?

My experience has showed that infantry, cavalry, artillery all receive the same penalty: 10 marks per turn . . . regardless of distance traveled or daytime allowance.

It will assess the 10 points if you use any movement points at all, even just deploying skirmishers. But if you rest your men for two or three hours before dawn you can probably get rid of most of the fatigue you accumulate during the rest of the night, assuming your men were fresh to start with.

80 fatigue points for a night of marching doesn't sound like much of a penalty. I (and the staff in the tents closest to mine) generally accumulate that much fatigue just from scratching my butt during the night. If the units go straight into combat then it was well worth while to have them available, and if they don't go into combat then they can quickly recoup the fatigue points. This doesn't sound like it will slow down night marching much at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining 'cause I generally either march rested troops all night or have them digging in.

But considering the size of your butt 80 points of fatigue wouldn't be near enough! [:D]

The staff agrees with you. Are you the one that's been spreading those pictures around? [:D] Next time, I'd like an opportunity to screen them first.

Pictures? Where I'm from we'd have to refer to something that size as a poster. [:o)]

Now you've hurt my feelings!!!!! For years now, my butt has been referred to as a mural. Do you realize how much effort (and food) goes into making such a masterpiece, and you refer to it as just a poster. Sniff, sniff, I'll take these two pies and go console myself. Yummm, buttermilk pie, my favorite.
