I've decided to enter the 21st century and put up a webpage, but I know nothing about hosting options other than there are a lot out there. It's for a small business that's just starting. I sing and play guitar for kids 2-8, not sure how I got started, but I may even soon put out a cd soon. So, I don't need anything fancy, just a place for people to look at, hear and contact me.

Right now cost is the major factor with the potential to upgrade if things go well. There's no sense paying for features or bandwidth I'm not going to use if things don't pan out.

I'd really appreciate suggestions for the best/cheapest webhosting.

Why not try a free hosting service until you know better what your needs will be, try this as an example of what is out there.

Personally I prefer a paid service, as you get more features, more control, and better support if there's issues.

I've been using this hosting service, and re-selling it to my customers for several years now and I am very happy with it:

The "A" package offers everything you'll need, for a long time, plus you can run a second site underneath the main one for free - "parking" it so it looks like its own complete site. So say a business site then a gaming site. Pleanty of disk space to upload music files, use streaming to play samples for your customers, etc. Lots of bells and whistles...
