Got a turn today and found that my opponent's infantry had routed over some of my limbered artillery and leaders and wiped them all out. I support the change where if you block a retreat with limbered artillery and leaders they get wiped out; but my guys weren't even adjacent, and there were other avenues of rout. The routing units shouldn't even have routed toward my artillery, imho. Anyone else experience this?

Haven't run into that particular one yet but I've seen units on both sides rout toward the enemy more than once even when they had a clear path of retreat to their rear. Once set up an infantry unit in a woods to block a road. Enemy moved up and meleed it, the unit had a clear path down the road to it's rear yet it routed forward past the unit that meleed it and ended up behind enemy lines.

Hi, Rich,

Glad you are on top of this one. It was very demoralizing.

In woods to the west of Gettysburg, in an HPS campaign scenario there, MG Abner Doubleday's division was attacking Rebs. Abner was a good three hexes behind his meleeing regiments, yet when the Rebs were defeated in melee and routed they routed THROUGH my Union lines, passed right over MG Doubleday and killed him. Next turn I had an Anonymous running his division. That's not cool.

Sincerely,

I'm not so sure that should be considered a bug. A lone leader with hundreds of crazed soldiers running straight for an enemy would likely kill him as they passed.

You don't think there's anything non-historical or unusual about a routed regiment routing FORWARD through the enemies lines? Instead of back towards their own lines? That was my point.

Hi, Rich,

The battle where I lost the guns and leaders of Bowen's Division was the first scenario of Vicksburg Campaign, in this case Port Gibson. And I agree with General McBride; a routing unit should be avoiding anyone wearing the uniform of the forces that just routed it like the plague, especially if there are other avenues of rout available.

I was speaking in jest.

That too has been adjusted, but time will tell if it happens again.
