I'm playing the first battle in Campaign Atlanta, Rocky Face Ridge.
I surround a rebel regiment, including one of his generals.
I melee against them, using one of my birgade generals also.

So I destroy his regiment and I check on leader causualties to see who was there. I captured his guy, but I also notice I lost my leader. I check on my guy and find that he was "captured"?? Wow, so they grabbed my general and snuck him out through my lines while the rest of the rebels were surrendering because of being surrounded???

Interesting eh??

It happens. I guess the engine works on probabilities only and cannot recognize specific situations. Kind of like POWs. In the war, men would have to be detailed to guard POWs, but you don't have to worry about it in the game.

You could also look at it this way. Since the turns last 20 mins maybe your unlucky general was captured at the beginning of the 20 minutes, quickly hustled back through confederate lines before the rest of the rebels were completely surrounded at the end of the 20 minutes.

Why Capt. Thompson Suh,

I promise to take good care of your General[:D], as long as you treat my General in kind.

They're both off sharing a cup of coffee and swapping West Point stories from before the war...

I've had that happen on ZOC kills where all enemies in the hex were captured, but I still lose my leader to a Capture...

Brig. Gen. Gery Bastiani Sir!

LOL.

They probably are sitting around with their sabers saying, "I captured you", "No, I captured you"...

Then they head off to the tavern for a brew...

They're off drinking some shine, swaping sea stories seeing who can out do the other. Then wake up the next morning with bad hangovers[:D]
