<font face="Book Antiqua"><font size="4"><font color="beige">Gentlemen! <salute>

This is to let ya'll know that I have been recalled to Richmond. It seems that recent battlefield engagements have not gone according to plans and President Jefferson Davis is recalling me for consultations.

Accordingly, Major General Alan Lynn, former Chief of Staff, has assumed interim command of the Armies. I have every confidence that Alan will do a terrific job.

I would like to say that although my stay as CoA was brief I had a blast for the most part. I was trying to bring some role playing and recognition to those desiring folks of the Confederate States of America. I am not however going to ride off into the sunset, I still have a full plate of Campaigns and battles to complete and lots more of you great members to meet and get to know.

Thank you all for your support.

Respectfully,

I can't say it any better.

As for being interim CoA, I'm reminded of the scene in the movie "Glory" when they make Morgan Freeman into sergeant and he says, "I ain't so sure I be wantin' this, Colonel." [:o)]

Regards,

Major Gen. Alan Lynn

General Kunz

I am sorry to hear that you have to step down as CoA. I thank you for the dedication to the club you have shown over the years. You have always shown me respect and shown competence in your position at VMI over the years we communicated. It is people like you that have kept this club going and stay interesting.

I am happy to hear that you will still be participating in the AOG with me and the other fine fellows in the Army.

Thank you again.

Best Regards,

General Pierre D.

Gen. Kunz, Suh <salute>

It saddens me to hear about you leaving the post of Chief of Armies of the CSA. I have enjoyed my tenure serving with you as your Adjutant at VMI and as Commandant now.

You have some GREAT ideas and I hope that the NEW Chief of Armies will continue to AWARD the Medals and Ribbons that each of the Officers earn as spelled out in the CSA Awards Manual.

As our motto at VMI states: "It's better to win a Friend that it is to win a Battle." You are truly a Great Friend. You have seen that playing the games is better when there is something there to play for...even if it is a little old ribbon.

And the role playing, that is also important to get into the spirit of the battle. It is just like re-enacting - you got to put you in their (the brave men who actual fought for our State Rights) shoes and try to see how it really was.

Again, Sir...Thank you for your leadership and your Friendship...I hope to met you in person one day soon.

Now to our new Acting CoA, Gen. Lynn, Suh.

If I or any of the staff at VMI can be of service to you, please call upon us. We are here to serve you and the CSA.

Commandant - VMI - CSA

General Kunz suh! <salute>

I must say I was greatly surprised and sadden when I received the dispatch that you were abdicating your command as Chief of the Armies, CSA. I have known you for some time and have found you to be honest, fair, and dedicated to service.

Your energy and vision will be sorely missed.

Your obedient servant,

Colonel John Newton
Deputy Commandant, VMI
3/3/II Corps
AoA
