Gentlemen,
I am somewhat confused on the new artillery options since Shiloh. I had been overseas for 18 months but have resumed playing for several months now, a battle of Chickamuaga, Atlanta with the Army of Georgia tourney, and been playing around solo with the new Antietam.
Is the only way to get victory points for artillery to use artillery fire?
From what I understand of the rules you should get victory points with the artillery capture option, not sure about spiking, and with Antietam it says you can recrew captured enemy guns but got a message saying enemy guns cannot be recrewed. I asked opponents and fellow soldiers but they seem hazy on the subject as well.
I am probably missing something very simple and spelled out, but need some help turning the lightbulb on.
Appreciate any enlightenment on the subject, as arty VP's used to be a major factor in victory.
The artillery ammo adjusted for each gun and not as batteries is great, will the other games be patched for this?
Thanking you in advance gentlemen...

You can get points for capturing guns, but it's easy to miss in the scoring. Basically, just stack something with the captured battery (it will then show as "Captured") - I believe a wagon or even a leader is sufficient. Then if you look at the info box for the VP's, it won't show the guns as lost but there will be points given for all the guns currently captured.

I don't have Antietam, but none of the other games allow recrewing of captured enemy guns. You either have to hold them in captured status, or spike them (and get no points).

I dont think you have to recrew the captured guns. Just turn them on the enemy and fire. You must have a unit in the hex though.

Thanks for the clarification and help gents, I think I have a better grasp of these rules now. I strongly recommend Antietam if anyone hasn't purchased yet and if you enjoy these games, you will not be disappointed.
