A local used book store has this 3 volumn set for $30.
Hardcover, Ok condition.

Can I get some opinions on it?

Last year, I bought the abirdged version for 7 dollars at Borders and I loved it. Sure, it is old and maybe not quite as accurate as more modern stuff (or maybe not, the guy was a real bookworm). But he is not shy about giving opinion and is an excellent writer. For that price it is a great deal!

In a sense, you are reading short (some longer than others)biographies of all of the general officers that served under Lee.

IMHO no Civil War library is complete without them.

I think Freeman wrote the books in the 40s, when there were still a few veterans still living. I read the three-volume work back in the 70's. It is probably the best command analysis I have ever read of any army, any time, anywhere. I would check out the reviews at Amazon.com though to see what others think.
