American Civil War Game Club (ACWGC)

For a number of years a Spanish gentlemen by the name of Mikel Uriguen had put together an amazing website of the photographs of the general officers of the American Civil War. It was the single, most extensive collection of digitized photos of both Northern and Southern general officers I have ever seen in one place, an absolutely superb body of work! The former address for this site was http://www.generalsandbrevets.com/. I say former, because Mikel has evidently taken his site down. This site was as expertly and professionally done as anything I had ever seen, and I was a semi-frequent viewer of it over the past 8 years. Mikel had received photo contributions to his site from all over the world, some of the pictures absolutely amazing. He also maintained a section of photographs that were "unidentified" and sought the help of his viewers with correct identification.

There was also a sister site that was linked to his that covered all of the brevet general officers.

Does anyone know why the site was taken down? I have e-mailed Mr. Uriguen some weeks back to find out what had happened, but have yet to receive an answer.

A lot of the pictures for the leaders.bmp I pasted together for Corinth 1.01 came from his sites. At one time I considered adding all of the pictures there to the file but never got around to doing it, now I wish I had. ;-(
