Gents,

I have not heard from Ned for a few days and he has not posted his daily civil war post since the 27th. I know that there have been tornadoes in Alabama and Ned lives in Alabama, but that may just be me adding 2 and 2 together and getting 5. :?:

I thought that Ned was from Huntsville and visiting with one of the folks in our office there said that they were telling them they would be without power for 4 to 5 days. Just hope that is all that is keeping him away from the tavern.

Cam,

The electrical outage is pretty bad in that area, I've heard from Jim Garner also in Alabama, by way of a wireless device, that he was without power and it would be several days before it could be restored.

That area of the country was hit by strong thunder storms which spawned several tornados, some severe and the damage is extensive with over 400 deaths attributed to the storms.

I hope that the power outage is Ned's only issue and that he and other members in the area are safe and will be back on as soon as power is restored.

Anybody that wants to help those in need;

Go to http://www.redcross.org or text REDCROSS to 90999. A $10 donation will be added to your mobile phone bill.

Riders have been dispatched with our inquiries as to Lt. Gen. Simms present status, but we've yet to hear anything back. Of course we are hoping that he and his are in good health and undamaged by those terrible twister strikes.

Gentlemen, thank you for the concern. It was indeed the storm(s) knocking out electricity to all of Northern Alabama. The majority of people in our county are still without power and some without family members and homes so we are very fortunate as our losses were minimal (a garage door, a fence gate, a loss of frozen/refrigerated food, and other assorted minor items). There were enough trees taken down by the day of tornadoes (1500 in Guntersville State Park alone plus a few seemingly across every road in the area) to put a 10 page ACWGC advertisement in every college classroom. Everyone should have to go through 5 days of no electricity/no internet with the wife and kids which is like a 5 day camping trip (is there a medal for that?). The case of whiskey from the Union High Command was much appreciated but we're still trying to figure out what to do with the horse's head sent by the Confederate High Command. However, all of you missed the real reason to be concerned as John Tiller also lives in this county. I would go check on him but the last time that he had us over for dinner at his house was - well, never - so I don't know where he lives (he's even smarter than we give him credit for). I had better shut up and get to catching up.

About the horse's head - just us making you an offer you might have trouble refusing :mrgreen:

I'm glad you are ok Ned. You've dodged so much shot and shell that a few flying trees would never get you. Drinks all-around and put the bill on the tab of Mark Nelms.
