FtW requires each player to edit their OOB file for weapons distribution, recruit incorporation, etc.

Lt. Quick,

Apparently I overlooked that little stipulation when I signed on. I thought the edited OOB would be distributed with the custom scenarios you and General Smith were providing.

Or do we have to create our own scenarios, as well [:D] ?

Oh, well, I should have known I'd have to do SOME of the work!

General Mallory,
While I understand that you said much of what you just said, "toungue in cheek", however, despite this, your statements beg and deserve a more eloquent response than I am capable of giving! I shall make a try at the endeavor despite my limited capabilities.....
First of all, of course the custom OOB will be distributed with the custom scenarios......that OOB is built by the changes we make to it through correspondence with the players....so yes you will arm your men....but I will be the mechanic that actually makes the OOB (I, Of course have all the info that Notso has inquired of in this thread already). You will arm them in exactly the same manner that real Generals of the day armed their men....they requisitioned the arms and ordered them distributed.....you shall do the same.....We allow you to look at your OOB that we send you (as a courtesy), however, you are never allowed to look at a battle scenario OOB, before, during, or even after it is fought as it contains info for both sides......
Next, just as you contribute to the building of your OOB by using the same input a real General had, you also your own custom scenario in the same way a real General did.....We distribute both sides the map, along with their OOB, and a situation map......then we ask the defending General to give us the dispositions for his troops (within restrictions for fairness), and we ask the attacking Genral to give us his order of march and what entry hexes he wishes to use (restricted by his location, and the hexes allowed on the situation map).......This is a virtual recreation of exactly what real Generals did at the time....so though you will edit absolutely nothing, you as a commanding General have a LOT of influence on the scenario setup....probably a little more than they did in real life.....if the dispositions are bad.....it won't be my fault....lol.....all of the pressure is on you, just as it was on them back them.....Anyway, that is what we are trying to recreate here.....Regards, Hank

"Some players edit their OOB’s directly and send to Hank."

Actually, this never happens as a final version....some players look at their OOBs sent to them by me, and then type instructions on the OOB file on what changes, within the rules, they would like to order made.....I then do all the actual editing....No player actually edits anything in the campaign himself......nor will they ever do so directly....Notso's point is that there is an advantage to being able to read the file somewhat.....Regards, Hank

And due to attrition, there is a shortage of Union players if anyone wants to join up.
Troops start out as F quality recruits and get better through drilling or battle. Same with leaders. Units are equipped with what ever weapons you can afford to purchase and/or from captured enemy weapons.
As they said, the tactical battles are in Corinth 1.01, but there also is a strategic map of the USA with economic rules. Strategic turns are every two months and those orders result in the tactical battles. Leaders lost in battle could be wounded and return later, captured and possibly exchanged later. You have your own player leader as well. Some of those have been wounded or captured (and escaped even).
Quite an effort by Hank and Larry. Salute!
