Be sure to take note of the new engine fixes and updates. The default night move FA penalty is 10 FA per unit per turn. This is adjustable with the pdt and currently seems a bit low. But this feature will need more testing and feedback. Please feel free to make comments when you have had time to use it.

Also, note the arty disruption rally upgrade. In short, arty should rally from disruption much faster and lessen the negative effects of not having a leader or having routed units run through them.

Bridge repair is now possible.

I hope everyone will enjoy these new enhancements.

Rich

P.S. More engine upgrades are in the works. But we have to save some for the new releases.

Wow, did I time that right. My lovely wife just presented me with my copy of Franklin for a wedding anniversary gift. (How romantic -- she sure knows the way to a gamer's heart!). I installed the game, then the patches. I went into the optional rules to set them the way I like them and noticed a couple I hadn't heard of before ('Night Fatigue' and 'Bridge Repair', I think they were called).

Now I'll have to go upgrade Shiloh!

(Thanks, Rich!)

Regarding the Shiloh patch, will it work on game already in progress? Or should I wait until my game is finished to apply the new patch? Thanks

Dale . . .

To the best of my knowledge - it is better to wait, rather than change Mods in mid-game. The changes can mess things up and from a game view . . . suddenly a destroyed Bridge can miraculously "Repair"?

Wouldn't that skew someone's Strategy and possibly spoil the outcome? [;)] That'd be alright if it happened in Your favour, but damn annoying if it went against Ye . . eh?

My Advice . . leave it 'til the next game.

If Ye wish to begin a 2nd game, with the new mod incorperated . . best to copy Your entire HPS Shiloh folder and play the new Game within that copy . . . a bit like the original Corinth and the modded Versions.

Just my $0.02 worth! [:D] [8D]

It's best to hold off in updating a game in process, it can and will mess things up[xx(]. I learned the hard way[V]

Generally, if both players apply the upgrade, the games in progress continue without problems.

Updating shouldn't cause a problem as long as both update.

The bridge rule won't apply to current games because rule options can't be changed once a game starts.

There is an easy way to solve the problem of playing more than one game, with different versions.

The simplest method is another game folder, named slightly different.

First, COPY your entire Campaign Shiloh folder to a TEMP folder. Go to that folder and rename the game folder to Campaign_shiloh_v101. (this next assumes "C" drive for your games, if different substitute "D" or "E", etc) MOVE the new named folder BACK to the "C" drive. (This can all be done with drag and drop, very easily)

Then, you can upgrade the CAMPAIGN SHILOH folder to the latest and you may delete all BTE, BTL and CPF files in this one. The V1.01 folder still has those files available.

Then go to the newly named folder, Campaign_shiloh_v101 and you need to make shortcuts for the game and the campaign game, that will be named Campaign_shiloh_v101.

With this setup, you can continue to play V1.01 with people that DO NOT want to upgrade and play v1.02 with those that will upgrade.

At the end of all V1.01 games, you can delete the outdated game folder.

It's very similar to the nappy system. The manual has been updated. You can find the info there.

No new OOBs

These files have corrected some recent bugs found. For example the Belmont def fire phase problem. Be sure to let me know if these problems are now fixed.

Also, what do you think about the arty disruption rule change. That was a heavily discussed topic not long ago. Arty should recover much faster now. Even if they become disputed from a routed unit. Perhaps 4-5 times faster.

The gunboat picture isssue, etc...

I will make note of all your comments for future patches.

Thanks,

Rich

"A bridge must have a strength of at least 1/2 the maximum to carry cavalry units or leaders. (100 points)"

I think Rebel leaders should be able to cross at 1/4, they aren't as fat as Yankee leaders.[:D]
