As my first official act as commander of the AoP, it is my distinct pleasure to announce that MG Eric Zamis, formerly of 3rd Division, V Corps, has assumed command of the I "Fighting First" Corps. Please join me in saluting a dedicated and devoted officer in his first Corps command. First round is on me. I'll even treat my Reb colleagues to one shot...no, bad choice of words in this friendly tavern - drink...but only one

<salute>

Major General Jeff Bangma
Commander,Army of the Potomac

General Zamis!

A hearty congrats on your promotion! The I Corps has a long line of great commanders, I'm sure you will grow that tradition!

I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.
