Gentlemen of the Tavern,

I have just notified Lieutenant General Nick Kunz, Commandant of the Vicksburg Military Institute, of his promotion to the rank of General.

As this is the highest rank bestowed on any club member, I have asked him to waive the VMI prohibition against cadets partaking of strong drink so everyone can join me in a salute to his honor.

Please join us as we travel to the VMI Mess Hall and celebrate this milestone in the career of a dedicated and worthy officer.

Your humble servant,
Gen 'Dee Dubya' Mallory

It's a little after two in the morning as my assistant adjutant general presents me with the news of the promotion. "Sit down" I said, "drink in celebration with me" ...... and then I said "stay, sit a while, let us drink again".

Salute!

Nick,

A heartfelt congratulations on your reaching the rank of General. You have certainly earned it and deserve it. Since my first contact with you at VMI, I have found you to be diligent, fair, patience, understanding, a great promoter of our club and a good friend. In short you have all the attributes of a good General officer and you represent the best qualities of the ACWGC. But the one thing that comes through crystal clear is your love for the game.

Three cheers for the General!

Well deserved. Gen. Kunz is a great asset to the club, to the Confederacy, and to everyone who has had opportunity to interact with him in any capacity. [:)]

Gen. Kunz, Sir <salute>

We from the Great State of South Carolina would like to invite you down to Charleston for some good old southern cooking:

Fried Chicken, Blackeye Peas, Rice, Collard Greens, Cornbread and some of that good old moonshine, made right here in the Swamps of the Pee Dee.

Cong. Sir...

Long Live Gen. Lee and Long Live Gen. Kunz...

Congrats, Nick!

Congratulations, Sir! Be sure to polish them stars real bright 'cuz they reflect the sunlight ever so nice & make you a real juicy target.

Also, I am most curious how the Confederacy could grant such a high rank to an officer and gentleman who can't even read a map. It is beyond comprehension, Sir![:D]

The boys in the <b>Experimental Regiment </b>are going to get all dressed up when you come by to Review, Sir. They have worked up a small skit in your honor.

I want to thank all of you for the kind words, they mean a lot to me! Over the past 20 months I have enjoyed the very best in ACW gaming that I never thought possible! I have met many of you and have had the honor of gaming against a fair number. I would love to get around to all of you at some point in time.

This is a unique gaming Club with our structure and ranking system and makes role playing an added element and joy. Without exception all of the members that I have met have their own unique and individual style of play and interest. It is this difference that makes gaming here so enjoyable, no one person is alike. Each and every one of you has something special to offer this Club and I would hope that you recognize this and continue in your involvement here at the ACWGC! I look forward to meeting all of you!

Respectfully,
