Thank you for your kind invitation. I did indeed leave my mule outside.
I look forward to meeting you all and I consider it an honor to be here with all of you.
I propose a toast: To Alabama! To III Corps! To the 1st Brigade!
Drink up Gentlemen.

Gentlemen All;

Please excuse the late arrival of this officer and the untidy appearance of his uniform!
Having just returned from a few goes at others who THINK they will assume the position of Lead Mule Team Driver, he is unrepresentative of a Southern Officer and Gentleman but he is thirsty.

Salute!!

Al, western officers should look a bit rough, given all the hard fighting and drinking we do it is hard to look as flash as those staff officers out east - so lets drink :arrow: :mrgreen:

Yes Sir,
Your wish is my command! Claude, get the good general a bucket of gin with no tonic; put it on General Pinkham's tab. He is around is he not?

Gen. Hovey, SUH! You certainly do represent the fine honor of the Southern Gentleman and officer of this fine Army. Remember Suh - it takes steel to sharpen steel and when you put on the blue colors and cross swords with our own (in mock cambat) you Suh are helping to make us a better force for the good. CLAUDE - please Suh - fill this fine officer's mug to the utmost top - yes suh - even let if over flow on the table top in honor of such a fine gentleman. Then git me a rag so's I can sop it up and drink it down.....

Thank you, Suh, I consider it an honour to drink with you and your fine Army. It is my earnest hope that all the pickets are out tonight and orders are given in the event of enemy attack. I fear no officer in this army will be available for duty at sunup. TO PRESIDENT DAVIS AND THE SOUTH!
