How bad am I if I can't beat the Union computer at Wilson's Creek - BG Shiloh? 0-3 so far.

Major Lovett,
Mark,

Well Sir... it's really hard to say! Perhaps it's those "Steel Horse's" of yours. They don't sound really mobile and if I recall the scenario... mobility is a big issue. Wilson's Creek used to be a favorite scenario of mine many, many years ago.

Do you have the Matrix Games version of the Battleground Games or the original Talonsoft release? I heard that there are compatibility issues between the two versions... though I don't know it that's really true. I have the Matrix games release now... but if you want to play a maneuver game... maybe I can give you a few tips to improve your game.

You can email me at PhantomCavalry@neb.rr.com .

Major Lovett,
Mark,

It's been fun playing our maneuver game. Been a long, long time since I played any of the BG games.

What's that seal or logo you have displayed by your name here in the forum? I don't believe I've ever seen it before.

Sorry. Just saw this. Gotta change the settings so I get notified when someone posts in a thread I started.

That emblem is the unit patch of the Coast Guard Cutter Cuttyhunk based in Port Angeles, Washington. Our patrol area included the Strait of Juan De Fuca so some junior officer somewhere made the unit "The Keepers of the Strait".

I preferred the Cutter Sassafras in Guam where we called ourselves "The Pirates of the Pacific" and flew a Godzilla mascot from the forward jackstaff. That was until another junior officer decided it might be offensive to some sensitive types. From then on, we were known as the "Sassafras - Serving the North Pacific - Where America's Day Begins". Arrrgh.

Was just as well. We had a string of mechanical failures and bad weather on one patrol and so Captain Corson let us re-hoist Godzilla for good luck and show the original Japanese movie on the mess deck. That night, a new engineer onboard failed to shut the backflow valve while pumping sewage overboard causing the raw stuff to shoot up through our toilets and flooding the heads and berthing areas. Next day, we set Godzilla on fire before submitting him to the deepest of the deep over the Marianas Trench. Luckily for the new engineer, his chief kept him hidden in the Chief's Mess, or he would have gone overboard with Godzilla.

Isn't it strange how the most unpleasant experiences can turn into such fond memories.

Lt Colonel Lovett,
Mark,

I think the forum settings have changed... as I used to be able to tag topics and get an email when someone posted there but now that isn't even an option anymore.

I should have known it was something related to your time in the Coast Guard! I have many memories of bad times in the Army that I recall with a good bit of humor now. Your Godzilla incident sounds like one of those. I always wondered where the poop deck got it's name... maybe now I know!
