I'm very saddened to hear this. I looked forward to our exchanges during the last time I had come back to the club. I know how difficult it can be to find selfless volunteers, and to work on behalf of the group in what can be a pretty thankless situation. I'm sorry for his family's loss, and of cour... |

Oh it loads all right- it just is not able to show all of the terrain. And that is because the amount of terrain doesn't match the elevations. Simply adding more terrain graphics didn't ever change that. Check out hex 2083,296 as one example- but what it does is - it wasn't showing marsh terrain, an... |

I am really sorry to hear that. I remember writing Phoenix when I had some admin duties here. Rest peacefully, brother, you were far too young. |

https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=76401 He was one of the big big figures in continuing the WDS programming for the Civil War series. I didn't know Berto that well, but I do know that he was big time into the Civil War, and was a big big reason that that series was able to ... |

At issue there - was the elevation levels ended up blowing up the graphics assignments. It was 0 at sea level, but many many levels higher in the mountains. I don't think an editor would fix that at all, unless you wanted take slices out of it - and then in most parts go and reassign all of the elev... |

I just came across another issue with artillery during a battle in Overland v4.02. For some reason the VPs for destroyed artillery are only being recorded as 15 VPs guns not the correct 30 VPs per gun. Not an error - that was that title's designer's call. Now if you want to debate whether it made s... |

Yep -pretty much what I figured out when I worked out that despite it might feeling like it might be cool to add all sorts of 60's tunes to the Vietnam games- when all it took to do the same thing was come up with a playlist (mine might have been WinAmp at the time- but same idea) ... no point to it... |

Maybe, Steve- but wrong caps on the artwork then (they got blue kepis). Not saying you're wrong - just rather this sort of thing ought to be the responsibility of the publisher to do (or have done by the people they employ). After doing an image search - m guessing that is probably correct... not ex... |

So what unit is that supposed to be? Not aware of any unit using red jackets. Just curious. |

I suppose if you paid in actually currency instead of that fake souvenir facsimile stuff, you might have better effect - but that's just me. And realising that this entire conflict is essentially the equivalent of a 5 year old siblings' debate on Constitutional interpretation ... 'can too' vs 'can n... |

Yeh well 'balance' is an interesting concept- but it also requires a lot of familiarity with events or conditions outside the scope of how someone has applied an engine. Or put differently it is the difference between chess, and what actually happened at Hastings in 1066 (or pick a battle) ... check... |

You know from a scenario designers' perspective, and to be blunt, but honest, I couldn't necessarily consider that every designer actually had a firm grasp on the VP/objective point value assessment. It isn't as easy as just picking out a few values- it also involves how those might interact (and -d... |

I tend to agree with Walt on this one - but there is no real reason to get mixed up around the engine necessarily representing reality. The engine represents the designer's take on it. You're already playing on a hex grid, technically you've entered into a dimension of abstraction already; frankly I... |

In absolute truth - it is whatever doesn't have foxing, and is a physical book. I will and have gone digital as a last resort -like the jp2's off of Archive.org - but as a personal preference it would always be a hardcover if I had my choice, and it was available. |
