Embankments are a hexside modifier and therefore after one turn in the hex you will enjoy the benefits of the embankment in combat and in melee. Terrain Hexes do not affect melee probabilities just fire combat. But hexside modifiers affect both fire combat and melee combat. With guns... the system s...

I think that members that don't reply to musters , or in any other ways cease to be active participants in the ACWGC , should be " discharged " so that in the future , if they request to be reinstated , they may do so . Their game records should also be archived so that if reinstated they...

(I post this on behalf of President Boling who remains on his overseas trip with his work) Gentlemen, The recent Rule Proposal regarding changes to Section 2 will now come to a vote for a period of one week ( July 2 - July 8 ). Every member of the ACWGC is eligible to vote. The Cabinet made three c...

With so many challenges to preservation these days it is always nice to hear of a victory! https://www.battlefields.org/preserve/celebrate-our-victories/14-acres-gettysburg Our resident Gettysburgian(?) Michael Barycki will have to head over and take some photos of the new battlefield land sometime...

Everyone in the Club is getting very good at mustering ASAP each month! On July 1 alone there have been 146 Musters submitted out of 250 Members (nearly 60%). I am sure all the Army Commanders appreciate the prompt responses :D Last month the Club had a total of 229 Musters out of a possible 249 fo...

My Wife: Why do you need such a giant American flag? Me: There's no such thing as an American flag that's too large. Wife: What are you even going to do with it? Me: Oh, I have plans! IMG_7502.JPEG I still have more decorating to do before the 4th of July but I am getting there. Kind of wishing I g...

Sirs, The DOR information has been updated to include all the results registered in June. This closes out the 2nd Quarter of 2025 and all applicable Admin Points have been distributed and medals determined. The Club registered a total of 30 games in June with a combined 1,181 turns played. The Club...

I always use Rout Limiting also. Anyone who remembers the old Battleground games probably recalls the massive routing which would occur. Talonsoft added Rout Limiting as an option not too long after their initial releases I believe. I'm legitimately surprised it hasn't been hardwired into the games ...

Hi Rich, You are correct. In the new DOR you only register the game at its completion. One of the oddities in the old DOR was that, over time, many members never closed incomplete games. Therefore, a member might have started a game in 2015 and when you viewed their dossier it would display them as ...

Just a quick review of "Corinth 1862: Siege, Battle, Occupation" by Timothy B. Smith (2012). I've read other books by Smith in the past and had high hopes with this one. The siege of Corinth is not a very well-covered Civil War event and getting to learn more about it was a big reason I w...

Every member in the Club is listed in the Records as one of two things - Active or Inactive. This goes back to the creation of the old DOR in 2001. A member who is Active is someone who is currently in the Club and mustering. This includes all members whether they are new or old or in the Reserves o...

I agree with the statement: One of the chief reasons that people join and maintain membership in the ACWGC is to utilize our Opponent Finder. The Opponent Finder is available to only Active Members within the ACWGC. Another thing which is done on the forums is voting, and also simply making posts, ...
