The Wauhatchie scenarios always seemed off to me. Campaign Chickamauga - scenarios 77 to 80 inclusive. The Yanks start off with 1500 men (Cobham's PA Bde & Ireland's New Yorkers) and the Rebs (Jenkins' SC Bde) start off with 1200 men plus. The Yanks get 4 Napoleons also. Ireland's Brigade is fix...

I don't believe a hypothetical Reb IV Corps exists in any 'off the shelf' scenarios available with WDS Gettysburg - IIRC from reading the Scenario Notes sometime ago. Instead, they are there as a ready-made resource to use in the scenario editor. Some months back I commanded the IV Corps in Robert F...

I think one of the cool things about the series is the music, and the way it linked to the particular title. For example, the later war games always felt a bit darker in mood - the song about the Sultana saw to that. Similarly, it was nice to have the song about Shiloh Hill on the Shiloh title and s...

You could actually write an essay on this question if you were so inclined. When you look at it, a What If scenario has a lot of boxes to tick. Blake mentioned some of the most important ones, but I'd also add plausibility - both in geography but also in ORBATs. I think a What If scenario has to hav...

WDS have been publishing a series of fascinating articles on 'What If' scenarios on their blog - https://wargameds.com/blogs/news/what-if-the-long-tradition-of-alternate-history-in-wargaming-and-beyond-part-i I always enjoy Alt History and 'What If' scenarios & this led me to thinking: A) What's...

I'm a horse and musket gamer really. There was a trail a little while back saying WDS might tackle the Zulu War - that would be exciting to me but as ever with colonial-era wargames, the challenge is to achieve balance. Not easy.

Fascinating discussion, Blake and Paul. I tend to lean more towards Blake's side of the debate - the Union cavalry corps had really only been skirmishing through the Gettysburg campaign & would have been concentrated & available to threaten those Rebel supply lines through the Shenandoah Val...

I have often thought that in the scenarios with bigger maps, the ability to load your guys onto the RR would be a really cool feature.
