I only have four titles and about two years of multiplayer so my experience of the scenarios is relatively limited. Big is relative, as you pointed out. I should have specifically stated I prefer having room to maneuver. You can see a difference in our preferences because I often find the maneuver g... |

I prefer scenarios on big maps that use objective hexes of decent point size and exit objectives. I like the variety of being able to win via those two methods in addition to VP through inflicting casualties, as well as a mixture of all three. I am not as much a fan of the slug fest maps with no or ... |

A Supply Source will not provide ammunition for your units. It solely exists to provide another way for units to avoid isolation although sometimes they are also Objective Hexes. Roger. I went back to the manual to read up on this. It is an unfortunately named game mechanic. As General Whitehead sa... |

I haven't used the isolation option for many years. But here is a thread discussing it. https://www.wargame.ch/board/acwgc/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21093&hilit=isolation I agree with you and your examples there. * Any hex containing a Supply Source." ['Supply Source' does not mean supply wa... |

After gathering some play experience and thinking on it, I no longer find the isolation optional rule to be one worth using. I think this goes against the grain in the club. My reasoning: 1. Illogical implementation: I've mentioned in other posts that the way the rule is implemented is unintuitive. ... |

Yes. I would like to see more fog of war elements in this game. E. g. not being able to see hexes out of LOS, randomized reinforcement times, etc. Fog of war seems an underappreciated aspect of wargaming to me. |

The Shenandoah Campaign I was playing has had to be abandoned as I believe the campaign system to be badly broken (it is corrupted). My opponent and I finished the first battle and went to the next and soon saw (as mentioned above) that there had been no carryover of losses. In addition to that ano... |

Well the hand drawn maps are just that hand drawn, of course that little change wouldn't be much trouble for an artist. But for a quick change the standard 3d graphics should be used, that also can hold up to the hand drawn maps. So you are saying that if you edit the map file, the 3d map would upd... |

For sure! That's very interesting terrain and like you said "uniquely out-of-place". I'm sure once a map editor becomes available, someone will place it on the map. *Paging Dr. Miller, Dr. krmiller_usa* Would it not be possible to satisfy Blake's desire simply by changing the map file's t... |

Posting an update to say that the command view range is working as intended but there was an OOB error in the scenario that led me to think there was a bug with viewing command range. |

I can fit in one more game with an experienced opponent for Gettyburg, Overland or Chickamauga.
Ashdoll Ren already kicked my ass handily once but apparently isn't able to fit it into his long-term schedule. |

That melee ratio seems like a good rule of thumb to me and I use it as well. It may seem like good odds. But the penalties for losing melee are too painful for me to justify trying with poorer odds unless the broader circumstances say otherwise. If I am desperate I will even melee just to cause the ... |

Indeed I understand, I too love the mechanics but the math just gets beyond my simple mind lol, although a figure of 2.56 minimum ratio for melee purpose seems to have stuck in my head for some reason lol lol lol. Why that ratio? Because it's roughly a 75% chance of winning? I made a calculator tha... |

I was sure it was * 2 * 1.5 for the loser, because I tested it in 3.0 when I put a lot of effort into making a combat calculator. Yet when I tested in 4.01, I replicated your result, indicating the loser gets x2 fatigue. Ok, so the manual wording is vague. But I was sure...so I reinstalled 3.0 and t... |
