Everyone should do a campaign series at least once to give it a shot. It’s not for everyone but it might be for you. Only one way to find out! The biggest oddity is the lack of PBEM encryption which is a big issue for some people but not for others. Having never played a campaign series game, I am ...

This is a matter of personal preference. Some people are gamers, they want to know everything in advance so they can plan their game to maximize their chance of winning. Others prefer to play with limited knowledge preferring to develop their strategy to meet the conditions. Personally I like the c...

Hi Karl. I wanted to see if anyone would give a response before offering my own, and I think you've put enough effort into the genuine curiosity of your question that it warrants at least some response. Please excuse some generalities when it comes to names as I want this to be an objective respons...

Gentlemen <salute> Following on from my post of yesterday regarding this matter I now wish to explain the reasoning for my initial query and with some supporting relevant material in that regard. I joined the ACWGC in early 2022, nigh on 4 years ago, at this time. At the same time I also joined the ...

Hmm, no-one seems able or willing to answer so, in the interests of further discussion, I will venture the answer. It was before my time, but a man called Don Adams created the old DoR and I believe this thread ( https://www.wargame.ch/board/acwgc/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7272 ) shows when the first...

Gentlemen <salute> I wish to pose a question to those, who, within the Club, (ACWGC: CSA & Union) may be in a position to answer the following question, unequivocally. Who was responsible for creating and maintaining the Original (Old) 'Department of Records until it was superseded and replaced ...

FELLOW GAMERS I am Grateful for the Internet in that it allows us to game more. WDS does a great job IMO in allowing recreation of the battles fought. I do however miss the FTF aspects in that the table banter was fun. It seems that that does not exist as much anymore. I often keep a paper log of m...

IMHO, There are enough rules built into the code and PDT files to dissuade a player from wanting to make a night attack. I don't see any reason for house rules. With that said, I will always play with whatever rules my opponents wishes to use. Especially since I usually only play one game at a time...

General Strickler <Salute> Sir, I am truly honoured at the award of the Robert E Lee medals and wish to extend my thanks and gratitude for them. I am further honoured on promotion to the rank of full General also. I did no more than was required of me in the position I was appointed to, at any time,...

Gentlemen <salute> I wish to advise that I have tendered my resignation to the GiC, Gen. Strickler, from my position as Commander of the Army of Tennessee. I do so for personal reasons and believe a change in command is warranted at this time. I wish to take this opportunity to thank all those who h...

Are you willing to share some of that stuff? I think that it has been quiet for a long, long time and it goes thru stretches where it is even quieter. The first few years of the club, it was booming and a lot of it had to do with role playing, but some got their feelings hurt and the resulting fuss...

A splendid review of a 'disaster' it would appear, sir.
It might also appear that you have far too much time on your hands |

Hi Paul, Thanks for the welcome. Sorry I wrote the wrong title, the name of the miniature rule set of Sons of the Desert. It's my friends rule set and we played a scenario based on the Sahara Desert 1888. The rule set was completely lopsided as I was outnumbered 10 to 1 and outflanked. Thanks for t...

I know that weapons effectiveness/ranges in parameter tables can change from one campaign to another (e.g. Antietam and Overland are different). Can anyone tell me if weapons effectiveness is the same throughout a campaign game (e.g. all scenarios in Antietam use the same weapons effectiveness and ...
