Anyone interested in pictures from testing can PM me with their email address and I will send them a pdf file of the test results. This is a case where seeing all the pictures helps understand what is going on.

I did a number of tests and have a bunch of pictures showing what happens in different situations. Here is my attempt to put the results from the pictures of the testing into words. Visible units or terrain cast a visibility "shadow", blocking the Line of Sight from an observing unit. The ...

I've been doing some testing to better understand your concern about the "visible" hexes. I think I see what's going on. I'll try to post a description of the results later today or tomorrow.

Interesting situation. I suspect that the situation you have shown highlights a limitation in the WDS LOS algorithm. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that WDS does a check between the center of hexes. If the path between the center of the observers hex and hex that is trying to be viewed passes ...

Richard, Your idea is interesting and there is some possibility that it might actually happen. Back in the fall of 2023, Rich Hamilton of WDS gave an interview. Here is a link to that interview: https://tallyhocorner.com/2023/10/zulus-on-the-horizon-and-buratinos-on-the-back-burner-wargame-design-st...

Walt was one of the first persons I met when I joined the club in the fall of 2023. He soon became a mentor and eventually a friend. I had the pleasure to work with Walt on several of his pet projects and I will miss his emails about pizza recipes, drone flying or his spectacular pictures of the Ame...

If you're just interested in going back to the Butternut 2D counters, then it would be the 2DSymbols... files in the Traditional Map folder (inside the Map folder) than need to be copied one level up. There are 6 of those files. Feel free to email me if you want more detailed information.

Going back to the traditional look involves changes in both the Info and Map folders. Changing the units from the new gray to the old butternut color is made by taking the files from the Traditional Map folder inside the Map folder and copying them up one level into the Map folder. I was able to ret...

WDS has been publishing a series of news blogs under the header of WDS Napoleonic Battle Series. The Fifth Installment was published yesterday, and I would like to point members of the ACWGC to the last section where WDS introduces the use of the application Envoy to simulate the command and control...
