General Ludwig,

You are absolutely right about the whole insurance company thing... when you pay your premiums... it's a good bet that your money will flow through Lincoln or Omaha. Most folks don't know that! Good job!

Gentlemen <salute>

My August report for II Corps, Army of the Mississippi follows. Hopefully this will allow us to get away from gophers and life insurance policies.

Administrative:

August muster ended up at 94%, an excellent showing in our first month as a reconstituted corps command. 2nd "Gator Alley" Division and 4th "Crimson Tide" Division both mustered at 100%, with 6th Division mustering 5 of 6 officers (83%). Excellent job, gentlemen!

Five officers were place in the hospital, however one has since reported back for duty and been returned to his brigade command by order of the Army Commander.

Battles:

17 battles were completed during the month of August by II Corps officers, with a result of 8 major victories, 1 minor victory, 3 draws, and 5 major defeats:

o Major General Tim Reneau achieved 3 major victories totalling 196 turns.

o General Kennon Whitehead achieved 4 major victories totalling 145 turns.

o Lieutenant General Tim Miller completed 7 battles totalling 124 turns, including 1 major victory and 1 minor victory.

o Brigadier General Bill Keys completed 2 battles totalling 58 turns.

o Major General David Peek completed 1 battle totalling 29 turns.

Gentlemen, thank you for representing II Corps and the Army of the Mississippi in the finest fashion!

Promotions:

o Tim Reneau, commander of 2nd "Gator Alley" Division was promoted to Major General. Tim, highly deserved and my congratulations!

Awards:

o General Jim Garner, Commander of the Army of the Mississippi and also a member of 2nd "Gator Alley" Division, was awarded his 2nd Patrick Cleburne Medal of service.

o Lieutenant General Owen Evans was recognized for achieving his 25th battle victory as well as being awarded the Purple Heart for the month of July.

o Lieutenant General Mark Davis was recognized for achieving 2 years of service to the Confederate States Army.

Gentlemen, my congratulations on your achievements!

This concludes my report for the month of August, and I pray I haven't missed anything worth of recognition. It is my honor to command and I have every confidence that we shall serve with distinction in the coming months.

Highest regards,

Nerds.

Just wait until winter and our annual inter-army Snowball Fight. It will be a total whiteout all over you all by the time were done! I Corps has been building an epic snowball with help from our Artic detachment that is even now on its way by special delivery to our Army. It will stay in the coolers though until the first blizzard of the winter. Then we shall roll the Snowball of Doom upon your huddled masses!

Lt General Hebert,
Neal,

General Blake sounds a little bitter that he was denied admission to II Corps! Perhaps he will be able to console himself that he is in the "FIRST" Corps... and that THEY are #1! (It wouldn't be true... but at least they can pretend that is the case!)

General Blake <salute>

Suh, if you're in an area with enough snow to build a snowball that big your offensive must be going very well!

Gentlemen of II Corps, my compliments!

I submit to you my mid-month report for the month of September, and it finds our corps well engaged with the invaders and proudly representing the Army of the Mississippi and the Confederate States Army. I salute you <salute>

The highlights from General Garner's report for the month of August:

- II Corps mustered at 100% for the month of August! That is a remarkable turnout, and I've seen dispatches from higher headquarters wondering if an entire corps has ever mustered at 100%. I thank everyone of you for your effort, and let's see if we can keep it going in September.

- Lieutenant General Mark Davis has achieved two years of service with the Confederate States Army.

- General Kennon Whitehead scored his 20th battle victory, and was also named outstanding brigade for the month of August.

- Major General Tim Reneau scored his 15th battle victory.

- Brigadier General Bill Keys was awarded the Purple Heart.

- The Army command is advertising for a Chief of Staff. Contact General Garner if you are interested in the position.

- The 4th "Crimson Tide" Division flag was described as "really cool" by General Garner, wishing he had one similar with a "War Eagle" on it.

Administratively:

- Lieutenant Tim Miller was awarded his 1st Nathan B. Forrest Medal of Recognition. Suh, my congratulations on an earned and well-deserved recognition!

- The September muster is ongoing in the Army of the Mississippi Field Headquarters forum of the MDT. For those who may not have it, the link is attached.

viewforum.php?f=40

To date, 4th "Crimson Tide" Division is mustered at 100%. Gentlemen, well done and your diligence is commended! General Beyersdorf, well done with your division, suh!

There's still two weeks remaining, so it's not too late to announce yourselves as present to the command. The muster link at the MDT:

viewtopic.php?f=40&t=18000

Battles: II Corps has completed five battles in September as of this dispatch, including a major victory (General Garner - 86 turns) and a draw (Lieutenant General Miller - 14 turns). I'm certain we'll be tallying up additional victories against the Army of the Shenandoah soon!

The Army of the Shenandoah Fall Offensive is underway. I wish to commend II Corps for the overwhelming response to this challenge from General Drex Ringbloom. The majority of the Army of the Mississippi officers participating are from II Corps. It is understood that those not participating are due to time constraints or other reasons, and there will be future opportunities. 14 of 18 officers assigned committing is awesome, and again demonstrates that II Corps is, and will be, a force to be reckoned with. Well done, gentlemen!

Gentlemen, it is a privilege to command II Corps! You have responded to muster in a fashion that is admirable, replied to a challenge from a Yankee army in overwhelming force, and I can see things only improving.

I thank you for your service and look forward to great things.

Gentlemen <salute>

Riders were dispatched earlier, however for the benefit of anyone tracking this thread I provide the II Corps report for the month of September, 1862.

A very good month for II Corps. We achieved 100% muster for the month, with 17 officers reporting to the muster site in the Mason Dixon Tavern, and the remaining two officers having been in contact via email. Well done, gentlemen! I belive this is our 2nd straight month mustering at 100%, and you have my appreciation.

The month of September saw the start of the Army of the Shenandoah's "Fall Offensive", directed at our glorious army. At my last check of Colonel Olinsky's site keeping track of the results, the Army of the Mississippi is leading with 4 victories to 0 by the Yanks. I believe there was originally a thread stating we should surrender or die; I suppose Colonel Olinsky didn't consider the third option: kicking their AotS tails

Awards:

Lieutenant General Tim Miller received his 1st Nathan B. Forrest Medal of Recognition on September 2nd. Suh, well deserved and my congratulations.

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Chandler received the Purple Heart for the month of September in honor of his efforts on the field of battle. Suh, thank you for your actions even if the results might be less than hoped for. It's better to have fought and lost than to leave the field to the enemy without a contest!

Battles:

II Corps completed 9 battles during September, including 3 Major Victories, 2 Minor Victories, and a Draw. Keep up the fire, gentlemen!

Gentlemen, It is an honor to serve in this position. I encourage everyone to contact me if there is anything which I may do to make your membership more interesting or enjoyable. If you're having administrative problems, send a rider and it will be addressed. I am here to serve you, not the other way around.

Gentlemen <salute>

It is a pleasure to welcome Field Lieutenant Thomas Denny to II Corps! Lieutenant Denney is a recent graduate of VMI and will be assigned a brigade command in 4th "Crimson Tide" Division.

Thomas, Nicodemus was a bit concerned when he saw you riding up in a crisp new uniform, thinking you might be a staff officer from Richmond on an unannounced inspection. It is a pleasure to have you join the command and we look forward to great things as you transition from training to meeting Yanks on the field of battle. I am at your service, and my tent flap is always open should you require my assistance with any administrative issues or simply to drop by for a visit.

Highest regards,

Gentlemen <salute>

Things happen fast in the Army of the Mississippi, and we've received another member in II Corps. Please welcome Brigadier General Evan Castle, a veteran of the ACWGC, and the newest member of 2nd "Gator Alley" Division.

General Castle, you're joining what is probably the most familiar division in the CSA at the moment. They have a bit of a target on their back due to both their arrogance and record of giving Yank commands fits in MP battles. I look forward to your service in our cause.

Highest regards,

Welcome General Castle to the Gator Alley Division! Your marching orders are simple, survey the terrain, choose your place of battle, beat the stuffing out of those nasty yanks! Good luck and may success follow your flag!

Gentlemen <salute>

My compliments! I hope this finds everyone well and actively engaged in the ACWGC. I submit my report as of 14 October to keep everyone up-to-date with the happenings in II Corps as well as to maintain contact with everyone in the command. It remains an honor to serve in this capacity and I encourage everyone to contact me with any problems they may have or thoughts on how I might do my job better.

We welcome two new members to II Corps this month, namely Brigadier General Evan Castle and Major Thomas Denney. General Castle is a veteran of the ACWGC and has rejoined our ranks after an extended R&R, while Major Denney is a recent graduate of the Vicksburg Military Institute. Their appointments have been previously announced both by courier and in the MDT, so please welcome them to II Corps if you haven't already done so.

Awards/Promotions:

Major Thomas Denney recently arrived as a Field Lieutenant, however upon reviewing battle results today I noticed he's now listed as a Major! Major Denney, congratulations on your rapid advance up the ranks!

October Muster:

As of earlier today we have 14 officers mustered in the Army of the Mississippi forum of the MDT and 1 officer in contact by rider and considered mustered. That's 15 out of the 21 officers on the rolls. There's still a couple of weeks left in the month, however why put it off? We've had 100% muster the last two months, and I'm certain this string will continue.

Battles:

II Corps has completed 8 battles as of 14 October, including 4 major victories and 1 draw. Well done by everyone! Win, lose or draw it is important that we represent our Army, and II Corps consistantly does so every month.

Army of the Shenandoah "Fall Offensive":

I recall the post in the MDT where we were challenged with "surrender or die". Well, I am proud to announce a couple of things with regards to this "challenge".

1) 12 of the 17 Army of the Mississippi officers who responded to the challenge are from here in II Corps! Excellent turnout, gentlemen.

2) As of earlier today a check of the "official" page maintained by Colonel Olinsky of the AotS shows the CSA in the lead with 5 victories compared to 0 victories by the Yanks. Perhaps the Yank post in the MDT should have read "Surrender or WE will die". Take it to them, gentlemen!

My tent flap is always open, so feel free to contact me if you have thoughts, concerns, or simply wish to enjoy the excellent coffee which an officer of my high position enjoys

I offer my highest regards to each of you,
