Played an excellent Yank opponent Lt. James Foster at Perryville in a pretty equal match up. I believe he is Harry Houdini as every time I knew I had him flanked his troops would pop up and give me heck. Game is over and he won. My disgrace is profound so I've already challenged him to another game.
I played Lt Chris Perlberg in the exact same scenario and conceded at Turn 11 / 35. I know I made a few mistakes (letting my right wing get engaged without a nearby source of supply, attacking his center on higher ground in a somewhat piecemeal fashion) but still it was not even a contest. I would routinely lose 3 or 4 to 1 in firefights, my artillery could not do squat (11-12 casualties max) while he was taking 20-40 men with every shot.
And my luck continues in other games as well. I began my first Battlefront Combat Mission game in two years, in the first exchange a hull-down Nashorn on a hill gets spotted by a Canadian Sherman at 470m, it pops smoke, my first shot misses, it fires through its own forming smoke screen and gun-disables me.
