Hi, everyone. My name is Rich. I'm from Pennsylvania, but live in Colorado. I've been playing wargames since the early 80s but just recently picked up WDS Gettysburg and Antietam. I discovered the ACWGC when I was looking for videos on youtube about the games. I've enjoyed reading all the very helpful articles in the training academy and I'm in the middle of my training game. Even though I'm playing the rebs I'm having fun :) although it's obvious I'm a complete strawfoot :?

Richard,

Welcome to the club. I only joined a few months ago and I've found it be very enjoyable. I'm wondering what your favorite games were back in the 80's and if you still ever hanker to play them.

Regards

Cadet Richard Youngdahl! <salute>

Welcome to the ACWGC, a great place to meet like-minded folks who have a great interest in the American Civil War and enjoy gaming it!

It's always a pleasure to meet new members and share some gaming information!

Rich and I are meeting on the Bristoe Station/Getting Started scenario using the Civil War Battles Demo!

WDS has enhanced their games again by including a Getting Started Introduction that reviews the mechanics of game play to help all beginners to
get started quickly! It is also a great tool for all of us to review once in a while! It can be accessed right from the WDS Menu Program.

Once we finishing up with his training he will then face one of our newer Rebel members in the Lt's Cup Match!

Your Obedient Servant,

Hi, loudscott-

It started when my best friend's older brother taught us to play Avalon Hill's War at Sea. Then it was Afrika Korps, Waterloo, Stalingrad, Alesia, Panzer Blitz. When we discovered Squad Leader though, that was it. That was our game. Played the heck out of it and Cross of Iron. I still play Advanced Squad Leader and although I still have a few of the old Avalon Hill classics it has been many years since I've played them.

Richard,

Such a familiar story. My gateway drug....er game was Kriegspiel then D-Day, Afrika Korps, Battle of Bulge and Russian Campaign. Later on Wooden Ships & Iron Men, Panzer Blitz and Squad Leader. Just now I'm starting a game of Afrika Korps on Vassal. Let me know if you're ever interested in exploring any that.

Yeah Squad Leader/CoI have a lot to answer for, almost overnight they made my 1000s of 1/72 miniatures completely redundant.

Welcome to the club I'm new here also, just completed my training game over the weekend at Bristoe Station, good luck there too!
