I have been told it is impossible for WDS to create a scenario generator which would randomly populate a map with arriving units from various directions and at different times. But if this was accomplished it would make the games forever playable as each scenario generated would be different and presumably unknown to both players. It would be like a blind game each time if you couldn't view the setup beforehand or see the enemy locations and arrival scehdule. The set piece battles preloaded by WDS are fun but I am growing weary of the need to recon each and every thing each and every time I play. I could opt not to but as I said in a different post I would just be giving an advantage to my opponent by not doing it.

The only case of something like this for the HPS/JTS/WDS series was Doug Strickler's Gettysburg.
He produced multiple versions of scenarios for the campaign game.
The campaign file was set up to randomly select one of the versions by the way the scenario was named in the .cpf file, 1_* would select one of 24 variants.
These were just minor modifications of things like time and place of reinforcement arrival, release of fixed units etc.
But they still had to be created in the editor.

When I first joined the ACWGC back in the old Battleground days there was a group that produced Blind Scenarios.
You have to remember those games had a lot smaller list of scenarios.
Basically they took stock scenarios or created new ones using the stock OOB, modified or set up a new scenario, and started the game setting the password for both sides.
You got an email with the bte file, a text file describing the situation and the password.
No way for you to know what the other side had or where and when they would arrive.
Made for some fun games.

There have been those who have created equal force scenarios but you can still open the scenario and see what your opponent has.
