Pardon the axe I used to get through the door, but it's changed since I was last here...
Well, I've traded the NE coast of Scotland for SW North Carolina; 6 churches for 3 (hey, I'm on vacation!!); gotten re-acquainted with gravy bread, BBQ, cube steak, sweet iced tea, chicken pie, Sun Drop, and all things necessary for a Southern diet; am missing haggis, fish fresh off the boat, daylight lasting about 7 hours, the Highlands, train travel; couldn't believe August ended without my putting on a turtleneck; and spent last night under a tornado watch. It's good to be home!
I came home to be close to my mother when we found out she was on limited time, but sadly she didn't make it even as long as we'd thought. But we laughed all the way through her service, and since then I've resisted every temptation to drive on the "correct" side of the road rather than the right side...
So on this 1st of December in the year of our Lord 2010, I return to the Army of Alabama, the glorious Southern cause, and....saaaaay, is that whiskey there at the bar? Everybody step up to the bar - even Claude! And as it's nearly Christmas, I'll let
you buy.
