One story I'd like to share that happened to me while I was in DC last month.
While visiting the Korean War Monument a tour bus of veterans pulled up to street and began to unload its passengers. Many of them were in their 80s and older and were accompanied by their children, wives and/or friends. They wore special t-shirts with American flags and the name of the unit they served with. They began to make their way to the monument but the sidewalk was crowded and they had a hard time moving the many wheelchairs they required down the path. A teacher was leading his class down the opposite side of the sidewalk and he realized what was going on. He immediately turned to his class and ordered them to one side and to stop walking. He then stepped forward and began to applaud and then to shake the hand of the first veteran as he passed. The students responded in kind and each veteran was thanked by every student, and many bystandards around, for their service to our country. A classy move by the teacher and his students!
For those who think we aren't quite what we used to be in America...

Were better than ever!
