As far as I can remember, they did indeed gave us the rudiments of mathematics at the Academy. But somewhere after the start of this war we were given these things called XLs, which they instructed us to simply fill in and all would be automatically calculated. This was viewed with some reservation when first introduced, but quickly gained popularity among the staff when it was discovered that we could save an enormous amount of work. Of course, that led to even more time spent within the taverns where we could study the latest batch of captured C.S.A. pin-up girls drawn in crayon. And if by chance any report errors were produced it was assumed to be of no great importance, since no one reads the reports anyway!
