Any student of the Civil War, elite or novice, like myself, I think will enjoy this contribution by Peter S. Carmichael.
He covers a wide variety of subjects that the ordinary soldier would encounter: day to day living, forced marches, fear, the list goes ever on. He draws on a wealth of personal letters and diaries to bring the life of a common soldier in the ranks.

Looks interesting. I'll keep it in mind . . . Have you ever read "Billy Yank" or "Johnny Reb"? Along the same lines as your book, but more individual, and much more contemporary.

They're a different cup of tea from the one you're reading. "Billy Yank" is written by a Civil War soldier, after the war. and the guy has fun doing it.
