Post subject: Morale Checks in Combat
PostPosted: Tue Sep 21, 2010 3:36 am
If I understand it correctly every time you fire on the enemy and inflict casualties the enemy unit goes through a morale check. If they pass then they remain undisrupted. If they fail they are disrupted. Another morale check then determines if they become routed on the next enemy turn. Does it matter how many casualties you inflict? Can you kill one enemy soldier and still have the same percentage chance of routing that unit as if you killed 100? Or, do more casualties increase the chances of the enemy unit routing?

Since you say "every time" I assume you are playing in Turn Mode. In Turn mode there is a morale check every time a unit is fired on and has casualties. The morale check does use a pre-check using odds formula:

Killed/(Killed+25)

So if you have only one casualty due to the fire there is only a 1 in 26 chance that there will be a morale check to see if the unit disrupts. There is no check on a moving unit for route. Route checks are made at the beginning of the player's turn and only to units that suffered casualties due to Offensive Fire or lost a melee while defending.
