Hello all, My name is Jonathan Woody, and I'm a new member to the ACWGC! I actually joined up around a year ago, but personal matters and unfortunate circumstances led me to take a prolonged hiatus from online gaming and I've only just recently started getting back into online group activities. I'm really excited to join the club, as I really enjoy the JTS / WDS games, especially Civil War Battles, and I'm really interested in playing against others rather than the predictable AI on single-player, which is not as enjoyable. I'm a historian, having graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, last year, and I'm also a tour guide / tour director who does independent work for various tour programs. Last August I conducted a 10-day program for Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours' Lewis and Clark Expedition tour from Montana to Astoria, Oregon. I also work as a researcher and script writer for several YouTube animated historical documentary channels, namely Kings and Generals, Epic History TV, HistoryMarche, and Warhawk (a Civil War history channel which I co-founded and serve as the researcher and script writer for while my partner animates and narrates).
I'm also well-traveled, having driven all across the country and abroad in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany visiting historical sites and battlefields. My last big trip was in July of last year, where I spent 2 weeks driving around Belgium, Northern France, the Netherlands, and parts of Germany to visit battlefields from the 17th / 18th century, Hundred Years' War, the World Wars, French Revolutionary Wars, Napoleonic Wars, etc.
In terms of Civil War battlefields, I've visited just about every major Civil War battlefield in the country save for a few (I still have to plan to visit the battlefields of the 1861 Western Virginia Campaign, the 1862 Kentucky campaigns, the 1864-65 Mobile campaigns, and the 1862 New Mexico Campaign). I've even managed to make my way out to some more obscure / difficult to access / "lost" developed battlefields such as Seven Pines, Belmont, and even Fort Wagner on Morris Island (or where it would have been, anyway, given most of it is underwater now).
I'm really excited to start playing with you all! I look forward to it! Thanks again for letting me back in after that long, unexpected hiatus.
