Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

Me and one general from Russian army – we are inspired by new mode HPS Marengo (http://www.befreiungskrieg.de/Downloadc ... arengo.htm) and we’d like to call out two brave French monsieurs for a fight on this Italian plain. Come on! Be measured up to merit of generals Dessaix and Kellerman, 9-eme legere and 2-eme cuirassiers!

I am a bit confused here. The readme file says this is for Eck 1.09, but I always thought that the HPS games had been blocked for add-on maps after v. 1.01, and this here comes with a new map, evidently. So I installed it in 1.01 and it works just fine ... [?]

I don't know how they did it but it works perfectly with 1.09. Just use their cpe.exe file (of course with a reserve copy of the original game).

First, I didn't notice before, but they seem to employ a "cracked" CPE.EXE that accepts the add-on map. It's part of the download.

Second, here's my translation of the instructions:

1) Insert original Campaign Eckmuhl CD in your drive and install game in a new folder named "Marengo 1800".

2) Patch Eckmuhl up to v. 1.09.

3) Delete all maps, scenario, PDT and OOB file from main folder.

4) Unzip all downloads into the appropriate folders (main, map, info).

5) Play and enjoy. [:)]

When I insert the Eck CD in the drive it wants to know if I want remove the version I already installed.. Is there a way to fool XP into letting me install this again ?

In order to do this, you can first rename the main Eckmuhl folder as something else, like add an "X" to the name.

Then install the game; it will not "see" the camp... EckmuhlX folder and install.

Another way is just to COPY the entire folder to a TEMP directory, rename it MARENGO (or whatever) then MOVE that folder back to the ROOT of your game drive.

Then adapt away on Marengo.

Dierk, Ernie.. looks good now but I was thinking taht thje windows installer could be folled into allowing me to install another version.. Delete a reg entry or something....

Yes, it can.

Then just rename the new install as MARENGO and rename the other back to the original. Any short cuts would be made to the Marengo folder and renamed "Marengo".
