Daniel Claude & I are organizing a special umpired multiplayer 500+ turn Bavaria game (ie. Eckmuhl engine).

We're looking for 7 French & 8 Austrian (any Allied army will do) players to take part so that, apart from the CinC, each Corp commander will be represented by a different player.

The game is unique in that it will have two umpires (Daniel & myself) who'll be moving all the troops in accordance with player instructions. All the players need to do is write brief orders to their men and inferiors/superiors and receive reports, so we're not asking for a big commitment. We do, however, need players who can send their orders off fairly regularly (I suspect probably two or three times a week would be enough).

Instead of direct communication between players, all orders, messages, reports, etc will be sent to the sides' umpire who will then forward them on. Only player leaders actually physically stacked with another leader can communicate directly.

Please get in contact by email if interested in participating.

4th Cavalry Brigade
Cavalry Corps
Anglo-Allied Army

Would the players be allowed a preliminary strategy meeting to workout an overall strategy prior to beginning the game?

Yes, it would make sense for the players to be able hold a preliminary meeting to work out their overall strategy. They could also hold other meetings later on in the game, provided they (ie. their leader icons) all got together.

If this works like the Tessier games, players should probably sign up by sending an email to the umpires rather than by posting on the board, because a key characteristic of this way of playing is that all communication is through the umpires so that players should not know each other's identity.

Hi Richard

Just in case there was a problem with my email, can you please consider me for the command of a French Corps?

There's only a few places now left for French Corps commanders, but we still need more Allied officers to sign up.

I'll get back in contact with those who've already shown an interest once I've sorted a few details out with Daniel. The fact is Rich Hamilton's suggested that we use a new, more balanced, 360 turn scenario he's designed for the Bavaria map (which incorporates a new game feature - weather), but I need to discuss this with Daniel before assigning the various commands or starting up the game.

Are you using the Tessier system of play?

15 players is a lot, but if you are using the Tessier system, it is very manageable.

If you are not, then what system?

Daniel is more familiar with the Tessier system than I am so he's organizing how the game will work, so I just discuss ideas with him and then we reach a decision. You'll have to ask Daniel if you want more details, but from what he's told me I get the impression that it'll probably be a modified version of Tessier.

I've got everyone's name down that's signed up so far (if in doubt send me an email), but we could still do with two more Allied players. Further French players, as reservists (or perhaps divisional commands) can also still sign up.

We're just finishing off the scenario - modified so that nobody will know the exact location of the enemy - but also including a number of other features, such as extra supply wagons but reducing them to 100 strength, and couriers to deliver messages between commands.

Hi

What version of the Campaign Eckmuhl engine do you envisage using? I think the latest on the HPS site is V1.05 so I may need to upgrade my current version.
