(The following was posted this date within the Union Army HQ Forum.)OFFICERS OF THE ACWGC UNION ARMY,
ATTENTION TO RETIREMENT PARADE!CITATION FOR ARMY OF THE SHENANDOAH SERVICE MEDAL
GENERAL RUSTY HODGKISS
General Rusty Hodgkiss began his "career" in the ACWGC in July of 2006 as a fresh lieutenant from the Union Military Academy. He was assigned to the Army of the Shenandoah, where he was to serve in the next seven years. An active game player throughout all of his club tenure, he posted a 16-11-20-8-39 battle record, and was awarded a number of battle field and campaign ribbons. He was also awarded the Union Army Combat Badge and the Sheridan Combat Medal. Sometime in April of 2008 Rusty began a more personal contribution in his club activities by stepping up into the command of the army of the Shenandoah's VIII Corps, a position he held until June of 2010. He assumed full command of the AotS at the end of that time, becoming its commander when few others had the inclination or time. Yet his own contagious personality and positive approach to things kept the AotS in good form, and the organization acquired a particualr stability under his guidance. At the end of June, 2012, he relinquished command of the AotS, returning into its ranks as a simple brigade commander. His AC service earned him the Union Army Outstanding Service and Honorable Service Medal awards.
A growing family, increasing personal obligations and activities, and a return to school led him to reconsider his status as an active officer in the club. He opted for a Retirement in the hope that he will one day once again have the time to draw his sword in defense of the Union. The General earned himself over 1500 OBD Points in his seven years of membership. As he steps into Retirement it is my pleasure to present him with the unofficial AotS Service Medal.
