"Pickett's Charge" by Mort KünstlerHonors for General Tom PhillipsOfficers of the Confederate States of America (CSA) Armies & Fellow Club Members,
I am proud to gather us here today to celebrate another fine man who is a cornerstone of the Confederate States of America (CSA) Armies.
General Tom Phillips has served the CSA for many years now and in so many different commands at so many different levels it is hard to keep track of. He rarely has been known to turn down the call for volunteers to help lead the CSA. In fact he might be the CSA officer with the most volunteer spirit over many years, next to only Nick Kunz. Tom deserves a good break.
He has recently asked to be relieved from Corps Command in the Army of the West (AotW) and though we are saddened to see him step back, we certainly understand and hope he comes back well rested and ready for more in the future. Every good officer needs a break. He will stay on as Dean of Cadets at the Vicksburg Military Institute (VMI).
Tom has continuously served the CSA since 2006. He has served VMI pretty much from 2006 onward as well. He has served as a Division Commander, Division Chief of Staff, Corps Commander, Western Theater of the Confederate States of America (CSA) Adjutant General & Chief of Staff later in his career there.
Tom has served as a behind the scenes man, helping in a lot of the admin load along the way and year after year. He personally was a valuable part of my staff when I was in charge of the Western Theater. I know he is a highly valued member of the VMI Staff.
Tom is also a really nice guy and always willing to share his advice on an idea. He has enjoyed these games & Clubs a lot over the years and myself & many others personally enjoy having him around too!
With his service in mind, I wanted to award Tom some pretty good honors for his many, many years of solid service. So I am pleased to award him the following:

Also, it should not go without being noted, Tom loves to play the games, hands down! He sits on the list of the Top Guns of the Confederate States of America (CSA) having amassed an amazing 3,958.055 points and has played a stunning 810 games! In that Tom has amassed a lot of victories and a lot of losses. Therefore, in a lot of delayed catchup work, because better late than never, Tom is awarded the following for his wins & losses:

He has tapped out the Order of the Purple Eagle Medal of Recognition. Might need to get Bob to commission some more...

We are very thankful for Tom's service to the CSA and the Club and hope he continues to be a cornerstone of the CSA for years to come. I know I personally have enjoyed playing games with him very much.
For his service to VMI, Tom will be recognized in another post for the VMI Staff to come a bit later.
Thank you Tom from ALL of us!
Three Cheers for Tom!
Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! In Tom's Honor I have once again asked Fightin' General Tim Miller to have the ol' 2nd South Carolina String Band play us a tune. I has asked them to play Dixie's Land in Tom's Honor:
