It think it best so that all can play to not allow one officer to be in more than one game at a time. That way if he has to quit on his game he doesnt involve alot of games at one time.

Not sure if this is the policy but after seeing guys bail on games its a prudent thought to consider.

Col. Peters was right with his comment.

For the 2nd HACW, players will be limited to one battle at a time.

There will be a minimum rank to play medium or large battles:
Small battles (less than 50 points): open to all players
Medium Battles (50-99 points): open to Lt. Colonels and up
Large Battles (100 + points): open to Brigadier Generals and up.

A time limit will be set to finish the battle, but players will be able to request a prolongation if it would not delay the end of the tournament.

All this to make the next HACW even more balanced and to limit the problems that we may encounter.

Let's study the numbers, it's always fun.
(Edited August 30, to include the CSA Major Victory at Thoroughfare Gap).

The score is: <font color="beige">CSA 1331</font id="beige"> / <font color="blue">USA 1417 </font id="blue">
Union is leading by <font color="blue">86</font id="blue"> points.
<font color="orange">1681</font id="orange"> is the magic number to win the war.
The Union needs <font color="blue">264</font id="blue"> points to win.
The Confederacy needs <font color="beige">350</font id="beige"> points to win.

612 points are still in play.

The points for the remaining battles are:

Dunagin's Farm: 8 pts
Valverde: 8 pts
Glorieta Pass: 4 pts
Cedar Mountain: 20 pts
Prairie Grove: 20 pts
Salem Church: 36 pts
Chickamauga: 136 pts
Plymouth: 24 pts
Wilderness: 136 pts
Resaca: 144 pts
Kolb's Farm: 36 pts
Franklin: 40 pts

If the results are Major Victories, the Confederacy MUST win at least two of the three major battles at Chickamauga, Wilderness and Resaca to have a chance to gain his independence. With three Union Minor Victories at these important battles (208 points), the South is still alive.

I hate to report that the Union is 4 turns away from a Major victory at Kolbs Farm, barring a miracle for us in the next few turns.

Lt. Lajoie, I was wondering if all battles are taken. And also I'd like to know if the battles are HPS battles, or are TS battles being played as well. Considering I currently have only TS games I was wondering.

Lt. Gentry,
all the battles for the 1st HACW are already in play or completed. We use 82 historical scenarios from the Talonsoft and the HPS series. We hope to see you in the 2nd HACW, probably next year.

Gentlemen!

It is my proud duty to report the good news of a Confederate Minor Victory ay Dunagin's Farm! Generals Hebert's and Little's forces held firm against the Union forces by conceding possession of Little Sugar Creek and fighting a delaying action thru' the woods. The Union Cavalry stumbled into an ambush and suffered grave casualties for their impetuousness.

Soon after this Reversal - (5:00 P.M. - beginning of Turn 12), the gallant General Hartwig exercised admirable prudence. He reluctantly decided that the CSA defensive Lines, drawn thru' the Farm and into the Woods on either side, were too formidable to warrant an assault over the exposed ground of the open fields between Him and the Farm. He felt that all He stood to gain were many more unnecessary Deaths and Woundings.

He offered Terms and I accepted - Dunagin's Farm still belongs to the Confederacy. Deo vindice!

I offer heartfelt Salutations to my worthy Opponent - Many Thanks for the Battle Randy.

Pat.

Col. Lajoie Suh, <Salute>

Was wondering when ya'll will be starting the next HACW Tournament. Did compete in a few of ones in this 1st HACW Tournament. Enjoyed them very much and keep up the good work

Col. Bastiani,

The next tournament is already in preparation. But we must finish the 1st War. Two or three long scenarios are still in play, so we can expect to start the 2nd HACW in 2007.

Thank you for your nice words.

Lt. Col. Harold Lajoie 3/2/I/AoM, CSA.

Good news for the 2nd HACW: the release of Campaign Vicksburg.

Many historical battles to be added to our tournament:
Chickasaw Bayou
Port Gibson
Raymond
Jackson
Big Black Ridge
Milliken's Bend
Vicksburg assault, May 22
and new versions for Champion Hill and Vicksburg assault, May 19.

Good day to you Harold! Enjoyed the tournament & am looking forward to the next one!
The major battles could be played by senior officers but, in a way, that would be unfair to the many keen junior officers.
A fair way forward would, in my humble view, be to match up the scenarios with officers of similiar rank in thier respective armies?

BG Gen. up to General. Lt. Col up to Colonel. Lieutenants up to Major! Just an idea.

Lt. Gen. A.W.Hill, 'Hoods Texans', ANV III Corps.
