So, I stumbled back across the Madminute 2nd Manassas website
http://www.madminutegames.com/MadMinuteBB/index.php and found that the game has spawned hundreds of mods covering what appears to be every battle of the war. Along with endless OOBs, graphics, and maps which are... to be honest... awesome.

What they lack is the organization of our Club or any sort of system to encourage anything more than tons of modders designing everything from 1861 to 1865 for others to enjoy. Meanwhile our Club's organization is extremely healthy but our ability to create unique battles and OOBs is nil.
Their maps are so detailed it's incredible. Down to weeping willow trees that obstruct the line of sight of soldiers to the hanging of spanish moss. The sky changes with the time of day and buildings can catch fire and burn during a battle to cause a smoke screen to cover one's army. Gees! That's just flat-out awesome! Plus if you have ever played these games you know the sounds are "nature" so when you battle you can hear the chirping of birds, the wind, the sound of marching men, horses galloping and the running streams in the background... until the shooting starts that is.
I continue to hope that somehow or another the MP turn based concept of these games can be merged with the graphics and modding capabilities of Madminute games to form one very awesome Civil War game to end all Civil War gaming for the next generation to come.
(NOTE: after viewing this for a while I noticed the battle on the horizon marked by the rising white smoke! Awesome detail! Imagine playing a MP game and not knowing what was happening there and having to wait for a galloping courier - which these games use - to arrive and inform you of the action! Now that would really create a fog of war!)
