You can choose your side.

I am looking for maximum historical experience so I did a few very minor changes to facilitate this. The changes are pretty much based on Napoleon New Setting Project for NIR.

The game to be played by using a manual defence fire and with very basic house rules. Looking for a high turnaround of around 5+ emails per week.

If you are interested send me an email.

Below are the changes:

1. Changed movement cost for roads

NRC Borodino field have a thick network of roads, plus two pikes (main roads). The movement bonus of roads (cost only 1 MP per hex) has the effect of making these roads the main venues of attack and allows them to be used as fast lanes for falling over the enemy, blitzkrieg style. This is not historical; while there could be an advantage in movement in roads, it should not be so extreme.

Historically roads in Russia are famous for its poor quality and road should not have the same movement speed as a pike and even today Borodino field does not have such a thick road network. Hence the road movement is left to the same as clear terrain (cost 2 MPs). It still has the advantage of avoiding other less favourable terrains (fields, woods...) and of nulifying elevation changes.

Also having roads at 1 MP per hex promotes French player to use unhistorical strategy of marching significant numbers south of Utiza and outflanking Russain position from the south. When on 6th Sept Davout proposed such maneuver Napoelon’s reply was: “This manoeuvre is too dangerousâ€

Hi Dean,

Very interesting and very much in line with a more historically balanced scenario. At the moment I'm half way through this battle with Ed Blackburn and as its the first time I've been able to fight this realistically with someone your changes are as I said very interesting. I am keen to fight this as you say with a couple of suggestions for you to consider. Let me get my head around them and your ideas and I will get back to you later tomorrow night (kiwi time!). Just spent two days at a Warhammer tournament in Wgtn so a bit mind numbed and time with wife would be good [:)].
Where in New zealand are you? I live north of Wgtn but work through the lower NW of the Island.

Regards
Mike

Hi Mike,
The original idea belongs to this website:
http://medlem.spray.se/matchmaker1789/N ... nloads.htm
(there is your name on NS_Credits file!)

I just decided to implement it to HPS NRC as after all the reading I ve done on Borodino battle over the years I felt that an improvement can be made with not much hassle. Will be more than happy to hear your ideas as how to improve the scenario.

PS I am in Auckland. I think we played HPS Waterloo before but I did not like it at that time as I ve always been a Battleground fan.
