Dear Marechal Corbin:

As I am a newly graduated cadet myself, I would be honored to accept this test of battle against one of my peers. Please give me a brief amount of time and I will secure a second Allied Officer for the MP game. Is the second French Officer in the game a recruit or a girzzled veteren of the French Guard?

My turnaround rate is typically 1 Turn/Day.

The French team will be me and the Cadet.

He will do most of the fighting while I command a small detachment

I reread the post later and realized that you would be the other player. I have dispatched a message to my potential partner. I should have an answer from him in the morning. He was tied up this weekend in a visit to his relatives. Hopefully he will return unscathed.

I think you may have attended Tiller Con III in Nashville over the Memorial Day Weekend. I had planned to attend, but was not able to make the trip in the end. I was looking forward to meeting you, and others, in person. The event was held in conjuction with NASHCON which is a convention hosted by HMGS-Midsouth. I am actually from Nashville, was one of the original members of HMGS-Midsouth and served as their Vice President for seven years before being transferred to Georgia. I played a lot of good games in that club and still have some very dear friends there. I still look forward to meeting you in person one day. In the meantime, perhaps we can do the next best thing, play in a game together. I will repost tomorrow once I receive a reply.

If a second man is missing, I can play. John and I have cooperated in training games before. [8D]

Dear General Walter:

{Salute}

I am sincerely honored that you would place your battle record in jeopardy to help me become a better officer. The Allied officer I first approached, General Andy Moss, has accepted the risk of battle at my side. His acceptance in no way diminishes my appreciation of your offer. I have every hope, that in the future, you and I will have the opportunity to fight side by side as well. I vow to you that, win or lose this battle, I will conduct myself with honor for the reputation of our Allied Army. Thank you again for your kindest consideration.

Dear Marechal Corbin:

{Salute}

General Moss and I stand ready to proceed. I have loaded Austerlitz on my computer, upgraded it to Version 1.01a and downloaded all of the applicable graphics modifications. Please consult with your new Leutenant and let us know which scenario it is you wish to play. Also please make a suggestion as to Optional Rules. I know that Andy has a particular aversion to the Isolation Rule so it should definitely be OFF. He also prefers No Melee Elimination ON, Partial Retreats OFF, No Retreat Overrun OFF, Multiple Cavalry Melee ON and PBEM Encryption ON. I honestly have not played enough HPS to have a strong opinion of proper optional rules. I simply tend to trust Andy's good judgment as I am sure it is based on substantial experience. If any of these optional rules choices are the opposite of your preferences, let us know and we can discuss further until we come to a mutual agreement. I wish no unfair rules advantage and hope for a balanced scenario where the relative skill of the officers involved, and the favor of the gods of war, will decide the issue. We await your reply at your convenience.
