Prologue: In the maison La Grande Armee, L'Empereur & the indispensable Marechal Berthier lean over a large battle map, casting shadows upon the figurine of an Amazon warrior.
Picking the piece up and examining it more closely in the light of a lantern, L'Empereur says, dryly,
"I've always considered the Queen to be the only real man in Prussia."
Situation: The Queen of Prussia, Louise, seeks a champion from among the officers of the Coalition, who can save her from the terrible talons of La Grande Armee's Eagles, even now converging on her position in the town of Muskau.
Game: Jena - Auerstadt; Scenario: Muskau - 30 (found in Scharnhorst's Campaign Plan, under Campaign Program).
Rules: MOE IV, with NO embedded melee (hence check mark by no melee elimination under optional rules).
Optional Rules: NO check mark by manual defensive fire, all others open to negotiations.
To answer the siren call of the Queen, send a courier to my tent.
Salute!

The night sky was illuminated by the thousands of campfires that marked the assembly of the Allied armies around Muskau.

In the merchant's palace presently occupied by the royal entourage during their stay here, there was a knock upon the door to the personal quarters of the royal family.

A young maiden opened it, admitting a handsome junior officer, dashing in his cavalryman's uniform, into the room.

He stood there, uncertain of what awaited this summons to ... the royal bedroom.
There she stood, resplendent in flowing robe, a single bejeweled necklace adorning her fair throat.
Her long locks of hair tumbled about her shoulders.

The officer looked even more unsure of himself, and glanced about the shadowed corners of the chamber, looking for...

"My husband is busy at prayers," Louise informed him matter of factly. "It is a new pastime of his that he learned from the little father."

"Ah," the officer muttered.

"The king places much faith in the promises of the Tsar of all the Russias... I however would prefer them to use a more modern calender, thereby ensuring their timely arrival in upholding their oaths."

"Of what service may I be, your majesty?" the officer inquired, his nerves stretched thin at the situation he found himself in.

"We need a commander to lead the armies against the legions of the Ogre," Louise declared.
"While good Frederick prays for help to his god, I believe in acting here and now to find our champions."

The officer was all eyes and ears as the Queen spoke, her words firing his imagination to great deeds of valor upon the fields of honor against the fantassins of the invaders.

"I have a mission for you, sir," Louise informed him. Her keen woman's insight knew she had him ready to serve her cause, to face any danger at her behest.

"Majesty, your command is my duty," he told her, bowing low.

"Take a swift steed and speed upon the roads that still lay open before the advancing hosts of the enemy. Seek ye the true defenders of our kingdom, the Red Eagles, and bid them to hasten here to Muskau, and save us in our hour of desperate need."

"I will leave at once," and bowing again he turned to leave.

Reaching the door Louise called out and he stopped, turning to look one last time upon the beautiful Queen, as she spoke final words. Words that embazoned themselves within his heart, nay his very soul.

"I place my trust for the safety of the crown, of my life in your hands, will that you succeed in your quest."

Regards,
