Hello, been away for a long while and am looking for a match, prefer to play 056. The Battle of Dennewitz, Campaign Leipzig. I am also open to other scenarios but want to keep it a medium sized game. Thanks!

I just want to chime in on this scenario/battle choice.

I find Dennewitz to be a very interesting scenario, however, I would recommend that you take a look at #60 Coordinated French Assault.

This scenario is more balanced (which as the French in nearly all of the 1813 titles you will be in need of) as historically the French in this battle were badly led by Marechal Ney.

Just my thoughts, having played several of them.

Basically you will have your forces available sooner rather than later (Oudinot not skulking about).
This will allow you to take full responsibility for a brilliant (or not) performance of your eagles upon the battle maps.

Yes, thank you. I prefer Dennewitz because I played it before against an Allied opponent and nearly pulled off a stunning victory in the final moments. For no other viable reason, I simply want another crack at winning the battle that got once "got away" from me. That said, my former opponent was very good-the best match I payed in my many years in the club. Thanks again for the good advice!

Lt Carter, your challenge remains unanswered for far to long for me to sit idly by whilst nibbling on dates, freshly backed bread from the ovens of the nearby Convent, accompanied by a tasty red wine served by my servant Maria. So I will, if you allow, pick up your soiled lace doily of a glove, sneeze into it, and accept your challenge.

I have to warn you that this may not turn out to be the best game you ever played from a strategic value in that I have vastly more experience with Maria than I do combat on the field of honor. Yet I have watched the entire Richard Sharpe series so I will not be a lay down like most French women are....

Once I have a few French supply wagons in hand I am planning on upgrading my lodgings.

Thank you Sir, my I will begin the match and send you my courier. His name is Obadiah Hakeswill, a former sergeant in the British Army who we captured and then sang like a canary in order to be accepted into our service (but most of time he just cleaned the officers privy). After the message has been delivered, feel free to do with him as you wish; but please, for the love of God, do NOT open his kit as it stinks all to high hell and back!!! Oh and that Convent you mentioned, chances are he frequented there once already and robbed the poor nuns of their gold and...well...hopefully not! Salute!

Obadiah must be pillaging every farm house and convent enroute to my location. Once he arrives I will have him dispatched to the Spanish Navy and sent to the West Indies.

My troops are marching in parade formations with marching bands, in order to impress the ladies, towards what has been described as the French lines. Many of the ladies we have seen are exceedingly tall, massive moustaches, big bear skin looking hats, and pastel dresses. At first we thought they may be French spies of the Old Guard but have been told by the local men that they are, indeed, the local women.

So we march on, making as much of a rukus as we can to strike fear into the commanding French Lieutenant. No sign of him as yet.

Unfortunately my meager means as a bastard son of the local Don could not allow me a proper schooling in the ways of war. I had to supplement my schooling by being an escort for some of the older ladies of fashion in town. An education to be sure, more on eating escargot instead of grape.

So I find myself marching backwards as I fight, hoping not to step in the horse patties from my previous advance. Oh for a stray bolt of lightning to strike the French lines!

By sending over spies disguised as Parisian sous chefs, I was able to bring Lt Carter spoiled foods and under cooked snails which appeared to have impacted his ability to issue orders from Le Grande Armee port-a-potty. This clever tactic resulted in an allied victory that will be savored for weeks to come..... until the next one.
In lieu of his sword I requested his cot. My Spanish issued one was on back order and scheduled for delivery sometime in '14. Some think it will be a lace lined four poster cot enfused with lilac scent and accents. But this is a cot of a tested combat veteran so I am sure the lace lining will be tastefully done. I am sure after I wake up my fellow commanders will want me to stand down wind to keep mosquitos away and cover the scent from the latrines.

A well fought battle with an honorable opponent! Huzzah!
