Oh ok cool. I agree re the skirmishers and the square.
Actually we dont even allow sk's to melee formed units in the open on the tabletop - that would be a good rule to add Bill

Anyhow I don't want to enter the 'tell Bill/HPS all the rules you can think of debate' [:D] it is pretty good already in my opinion

Oui the sk most fall back to their parant unit but we have two types of sk's in table top here mon ami just one! One Kronenbourg for ma and two for the Spanard on the floor bar keep!

I am against skirmishers meleeing formed units too as long as the unit is of a certain size. A 50 man infantry column should be open to attack by say 200 skirmishers.
