There is a two volume set of DVDs called The Campaigns of Napoleon. Kultur is the distributer, Cromwell is the publisher of the series.

Has anyone watched these? First DVD in Volume 2 is The Battle of Trafalgar (not really a campaign of Napoleon but ...), second DVD is The Battle of Borodino, while the third is The Napoleonic Wars.

If you saw these what do you think of them? Were they well done and worth my money or should I pass on them.

They are all Docs.
And i have seen them all. and taped most of them..Its great to see that you can now get them on DVD..
They are good to look at .. and also you see parts from Films that have been made. They give you a good run though a battle as well ..

Thanks, yes they are the ones on The History Channel. Should have said that.

If the second volume is good I will order the first.

I've got the Kultur Austerlitz, Borodino, and Waterloo.

Couple observations:

1. The first is narrated by Brian Blessed. For this reason, it was worth the entire purchase. I would pay money to hear him read from the phone book.

2. They are replete with appearances by David Chandler. I doubt I need say more in this company, though I suppose I should say that Prof. Chandler (R.I.P.) is speaking on Napoleonic subjects rather than say animal dentistry.

3. They borrow LIBERALLY from Bodarchuck (sp?) for actual "battle footage" -- which makes sense given the battles covered. Far better, IMHO, than the "three lads in a field with their reenactment gear on" that afflicts so much of what the History Channel produces.

4. They've got these fun sequences where reenactor-guys portray actual officers -- lower tier rather than Marshals or even GdD -- reciting from their memoirs. Some of the best stuff in the series. The accent of the French fellow on Austerlitz is an hoot.

5. While the production values are generally pretty stock, they've got a decent amount of map CG...particularly at Austerlitz.

Overall, I liked em.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Look on Amazon.com Dean. The UK site should have it. Guess you have to make sure that the Region is correct. Mine is Region 1. Not sure if its made for your Region or not.
