Gamey is when you use multiple inf melee rule and you first attack with a skirmisher (if a formed battalion takes 1 casualty then it disrupts), then you follow up with battalions and win every time.

Hi All
Yes Bill it is after all a game. So playing it makes us all gamey no doubt[:D]

I agree with Jim re the skirmisher thing, we are running a house rule not to do it at the moment in one of our games.

For a long time I’d like to tell some words on this subject. Looking through the board I found that this topic had already been discussed several times. Now I cannot resist my temptation to rise this matter out again. I assume the scenario designers and testers got tired to answer such questions. So I don’t ask for reply to this post.

When I got this title and checked unit’s quality I was just furious. French infantry of 1806, arguably the best in the history of horse and musket warfare, having an immense battle experience and great #233;lan, passing through hard training in Boulogne camps, inspired by the victorious campaign and confident in its leaders, has the same rating as Prussians which had only formal practice, inexperienced and unenterprising officers, doubtful moral and no serious fight for a half of century!
I cooled a bit when I read designer’s notes and found out that such unfair ratings was allocated intentionally to balance the game. But I still cannot agree with a lot of points.

Firstly I didn’t find out any great difficulty in recovering from disorder of the Prussian troops. My Prussian squadrons recover from disorder after charge with average chance 80 %.

The basic rating of the French light cavalry “Câ€

I dont mind constructive criticism Vladmir and alot of what you say is perfectly valid.

We discussed the French cavalry and found that it was improperly mounted. Thus we weakened them a tad under the Prussians who were supposed to be the best horsemen in Europe.

Guns: well frankly morale for guns is a joke. Question: when is the last time you saw a gunner rout in the game? As for fire values the French have it all over the Prussians in value and range.

Saxons: their record on the field was better than the Prussians. While the Prussians ran from Jena the Saxons formed square and performed rearguard duty wonderfully. I differ on this point with you in that regard.

The Saxons stood for hours taking shot and fire and only after they had been battered did they fall back.

Alot of difference of opinion here. I dont mind answering these comments though and I have noted an error in one of the French corps as it regards number of battalians. Wont go into it here but I am trying to figure out how to make the correction without fixing hundreds of scenarios. I think the solution is to add the bn at the end of the brigade and then just add it in and resync the values of each unit in the Scenario Editor. Putting units at the end of an org in the OB is the best way to add in units.
